Definately improved my computers performance.2008-03-18
Though it can be easily argued that OneCare isn't the most comprehensive security application available, there's more to PC health than just security.

Since installing OneCare my files are backed up, my printers are shared, and my computer loads and runs faster. I also like the ability to monitor the status of up to three computers, Microsoft calls this your OneCare Circle. By adding my Mom's computer in Calgary to my Circle I'm able to keep tabs on her machine even though I'm 300 kilometers away in Edmonton!

OneCare is a great program which seems to be continually improving, and I hope Norton and McAfee steal a page from it's playbook. Good-work!
If you USE Windows, then buy Windows!2008-03-09
For the last fifteen years, I have used McAfee or Norton for my virus protection. I have received virus's numerous times and had problems with my firewalls being set too high by some clown I hired who was an expert. The worst part was that Norton and McAfee never notified me to update my subscription (they are supposed to). Maybe it was my fault. When I mentioned this to my computer expert nephew his first questions was, "what system was I using?" Microsoft. He advised me to dump Norton and never use McAfee. If I have Windows Vista, doesn't it make sense to use a Windows product?

Since I have installed it, the only problem I had was getting my past username and password correct. It runs MUCH faster than any other software I have had and is simple to install. Uninstalling Norton was harder than installing this. We all seem to have to learn the hard way. Windows Live OneCare works great!
Easy to use and does a lot2008-03-03
Windows Live OneCare monitors your computer for spyware and viruses and provides a firewall and phishing filter. It conducts weekly "tune-ups" and enables you to back-up your files. It defrags as needed. Installation is very easy; every step was clearly explained so even a novice like me could understand. The system sensed I had Norton and uninstalled it during installation.

On the plus side, I feel confident using a Microsoft product specifically designed to protect Windows. It's easy to tell the status of my computer by the color of the icon at the bottom of my screen - green, yellow, or red. Weekly tune-ups scan my files quickly for dangerous viruses and spyware. Doing a back-up is fairly fast and easy.

On the down side, I get two or three really annoying pop-up messages everyday telling me to click on the icon for updates instead of updating automatically like Norton. Another negative is the price: Its $50.00 annual subscription price is higher than Norton.

It may take a year to decide whether I keep OneCare or go back to Norton/Spybot. So far, so good.
