Excellent resource
2008-10-13Very helpful for me, as a family historian who wants to pass on the stories as accurately as possible.

Genealogical Proof Standard
2008-09-02An excellent resource that places genealogical "proof" before the average genealogist. A relatively short book, but packed with solid information that helps assess indirect evidence and almost assures a solid conclusion. I highly recommend this book to all.

A "must-have" for any family historian or genealogist!
2008-07-29As a replacement for the dated "Preponderance of the Evidence", Christine Rose made the "Genealogical Proof Standard: Building a Solid Case" into a well-written, up-to-date reference pamphlet which explains in detail the "Five Step Process" that any good genealogist or family historian should adhere to when researching and weighing the "evidence". She explains how to build a case, weigh the records, and analyze the criteria, then how to sum it all up by writing a clear and solid conclusion. Her writing is down-to-earth, and she gives good examples of cases to analyze.
This book is a quick-read -- I read it all in one evening. I highly recommend that anyone who is seriously researching their family history to read -- and re-read, from time-to-time -- this book!
