A great portable oven
2008-12-29Great Product... simply love it... cleaning is a bit difficult though... but overall performance wise it is great

Terrific!
2008-09-08Nothing beats charcoal-grilled meats and veggies! The only disadvantage to any charcoal grill is that it takes longer than gas to get it ready. This Weber grill is well designed, easy to use, and to clean. I also like the fact that it is lightweight and easily transportable.

Weber 10020 Smokey Joe Silver Charcoal Grill, Black
2008-07-09Works as intended, needs some locking clips so it can be moved with the lid attached.

Grilling & more...great at this price
2008-07-07I did not give full stars to this Weber on purpose.
Pros:
- Extremely light weight and easy to use
- Ash collection plate is very useful
- Great control of air flow for high & low flames (even long lasting)
- Enough space on the grill for 4 medium steaks
Cons:
- The vent at the bottom is difficult to reach in case you want to start a fire using a piece of paper
- The steel (or iron) grills are low quality
- No handles or hooks - in case you want to move it while still hot. You have to pull from one of the legs.
I used it in my camping trip to grill meat, fish, corn, potatoes even boiled water for coffee. The campground did not allow campfires, so we used this grill to have a little hot stove for ourselves (controlling the heat). For the price of this grill, there is no substitute. This is my second Weber, and I will keep on upgrading as and when space allows.
DO NOT BUY the charcoal starter on the side, this grill will not need it.

The perfect little grille...almost
2008-07-06The Smokey Joe is as close as it gets to the perfect portable grill for two people. We also have a big Weber, but it only gets used a few times a year when we have friends or family over.
This is third one I've bought over the past 30 years, but this is mainly because it lives outside 365 days a year so the steel base & the vents eventually start to rust. If I took better care of them, we'd probably still be on our first or second one by now.
Perhaps I should have been more careful with the first couple, because the only complaint I have about the Smokey Joe wasn't an issue with the earlier models. Some years ago they stopped making this grill with a real wooden handle and started using plastic. The problem with the plastic handle is that it gets pretty hot, while the old wooden ones stayed nice and cool to the touch. Id even be willing to spend more on this grill if they'd only go back to the old handle so I don't have to put on a mitt every time I lift the lid. Still a very good value though, and I would (and probably will) buy it again.
