Customer Reviews

BEST camera I have ever bought2005-03-21
I have the Kodak C700 Advantix camera now for about 4 yrs. I absolutely LOVE it and would not trade it in for anything (not even a digital camera).

It continues to work like the day I purchased it. I love the simiplity of it (basic point and shoot camera with 2x telephoto lens). Some may think that 2x zoom, is not enough, but believe me it really is. I love the option of being able to take (3) totally different size pictures with the simple push of one button.

The zoom button allows you to zoom in or out in a matter of seconds by just sliding the button either right or left. It has an automatic flash and in ready for your next picture in seconds. It also has a long battery life even if you don't use the camera for say 6 months.

We have taken it on many vacations (from cruises to our trip to Hawaii)and whenever our pictures come back, everyone wants to know what kind of camera we have. They can't believe the sharpness and color quality of the pictures. ( I do use 400 speed film, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not). Everyone thinks I must have paid alot of money for my camera, because they think I have a digital camera.

I think I paid somewhere between $70 - $100 for it. One comment that I did receive and thought was funny someone said to me "that camera takes better pictures than the digital camera I just bought". I had to laugh at that one.

I have framed some of vacation pictures and have been asked if a professional photographer had taken them.

I have never had a better camera (esp. for the price)that my Kodak C700 Advantix. No matter how old you are, you cannot take a bad picture with this camera. Whether you are taking a close up shot or a zoom in shot. All of the pictures are crystal clear, and because of the auto focus, you don't have to worry about that either, it's done for you automatically, which is a big plus in my book.

In closing I would like to add, this is the best (point and shoot camera)that Kodak has ever made and hope they continue to make them in the future.

Versatile and dependable APS camera2003-01-02
I purchased this camera mainly for the camera size and panoramic feature. The option to switch from C (classic-4x6), H (group-HDTV-4x7) - default size, or P (panoramic-4x11.5) formats at anytime is great. The features are very simple, but this camera packs a lot into its small size. The "flash fill" feature works well. The flash bulb placement seems to reduce the red-eye as advertised. The self-timer has a delay of 10 seconds. Loading and unloading the film cassette couldn't be easier, especially with the mid-roll change feature. You can also view the film speed on the display at a few presses of a button. There are onscreen messages on the LCD display that tell you "FLASH NOT READY" or "MOVE BACK". The frame counter indicates how many exposures you have left.

The date & time imprinting allows you to choose several formats for the date (mm/dd/yy, dd/mm/yy, yy/mm/dd) and time (12 or 24 hour). The nice thing is that it is imprinted on the back of the print instead of the front of the print.

There are two title options: roll and/or print. There are 30 preset titles to choose from. The roll title comes in handy when getting the index print. One thing to keep in mind if you are using the same title for both roll and print (e.g. "Vacation"), then both titles appear on the back of the print (e.g. "Vacation", "Vacation"), which can make it seem redundant.

The mid-roll change (MRC) feature is an added bonus, allowing you to switch between different rolls (e.g. change a paritally exposed roll of 400 speed color film to a roll of 400 speed black & white film or 200 speed color film, then back again). There is a nice safety feature in which the film door locks, so you can't open it until the entire roll has rewound (either by using all exposures or using the mid-roll feature). Although reloading is easy, the downside is waiting for it to advance to the correct location (you can hear it go through one frame at a time until it finds an unexposed frame). However, that is a little sacrifice for the MRC feature.

Overall, this is a great little camera if you want something small, but dependable to carry around. The prints are excellent for a non-SLR camera.

Crisp and clear - without fear!2002-11-06
The C700 is one of the few Advantix cameras that will allow you to change film mid-roll! It is unbelievable how convenient this is when you want to take a black&white photo but the camera has colour film in it (of course you need to have the black&white roll of film on hand). My poor camera has been kicked, dropped and abused over its life of traveling with me and has never failed; not one crack, not one bad picture, nothing! All of the controls are easy to use and clearly marked.
Another feature that some may enjoy is the "titling" option: It allows you to give each roll an event title which will be printed onto theback of your pictures.
So much for so little - now where is my SLR? It has been awhile.
Great Camera2002-05-03
A great camera. We bought this camera a couple of months ago after our 35mm had some problems, and are extremely pleased with it. We didn't want to take any chances with the old cameras while taking pictures of our new daughter. The picture quality is outstanding(Its the first APS camera i have owned). The controls are easy to use and straight forward. I like the preset names that you can put on individual prints or to the entire roll. The index print and the coded roll are nice to have when you need to get reprints. Highly recomended.
I love this camera!!!2002-03-22
My Kodak Advantix C700 was given to me 2 years ago by my husband. It has never left my side. I have taken it everywhere. It is still on the very same battery that I started with. I am now shopping around for one for my stepson. It takes great pictures that really have a professional quality to them. The ability to switch between panoramic and regular size is the best feature. I have never had to use my warranty, never had it repaired, never even had a complaint about this camera. The instructions are easy to read and understand. You'll be taking photos in no time.
