Best baby gate ever!!!
2008-11-15Believe me! It's the best baby gate I found so far. And we had them all. This is my ninth gate (no kidding), I tried. I looked for a solid, easy to open, wide opening top of stair gate to keep my 7 months old from falling down our stairs.
One of our other gates (The First Years All Clear Swing Gate) was good for a while and smooth to open, but broke when our 28 lbs toddler leaned against it (two small plastic pieces with screws inside). I could not fix it - even using all my Mc Giver tools and knowledge. Most of the others could not be opened with one hand and were too narrow to walk thru with a toddler, a baby and some shopping bags.
I did not pay much attention to this Evenflo gate as it is cheap and did not seem sturdy enough for my very active 2 year old, but I was wrong. :-)
Our preschool has two of them with really heavy traffic (easily opened and closed 200+ times a day) and so I thought I will give it a try.
Please pay some attention to the manual before assembly. If you measure and do it right, it won't get stuck on the lower notch as it does if it's not done correctly. Also it won't work without studs in your wall and does not come with solutions for floor boards. I just saw off the lower bar about 1/2 an inch to level it out. That did the trick.
Great, sturdy gate. Great price. Don't spend more time researching for others. This is it! I am so happy I found it after just 24 months.
;-)
I am using it for a month now and have no complains. It's truely much more worth than $ 35.

Best Gate I Ever Bought!!
2008-11-04I have been in the daycare business for over 28 years. I have had several gates. This one is the best one yet!! I use to have a hands free swing gate. This limits the width of the opening. You need to aim in the middle. The Evenflo gate will swing all the way open and give you the entire width of the opening that you are blocking. It is low enough that I just straddle over it or undo the latch.

Perfect
2008-10-24We currently live in housing on base in Germany and the stairs are very wide and unusual. I got this gate since it is made for the top of the stairs and was wide enough for our staircase. It works great! I love that it slides to the side as well as opens. Was a breeze to install and I feel really safe with the fact that it is a really great hardware mount. No complaints here my son is 10 months and pulls up on everything so it is nice to know he is safe! The one hand open is really simple and I like it more than any gate I have seen at friends houses.

Why buy 1 when you can buy 4?
2008-10-23I've had one of these at the bottom of my stair for awhile, and finally decided to get a few more. I use them to keep "dog-free" zones in my house. The bars are close enough together that not even my miniature daschunds can squeeze through them (well except when they were 2-3 months old), but my cats jump these gates with no problems. I've even stained and sealed them so they blend in with the woodwork of my house a bit better. For me to be buying my 4th gate, these have to be pretty decent.

Good baby gate !
2008-09-25This is a solid, easy to install gate that actually fit out 45" wide stairs. My wife had it put up in minutes. It strong, easy to open and keeps the kids in. We ended up buying two and they're worth the purchase.
