I have yet to be disappointed in any KitchenAid product. This turner is a handy size with good weight and very well made. Everyone deserves one of these in their kitchen. Be forwarned; however. This may lead to your replacing all of your kitchen tools with KitchenAid products as I have!
Calling it short is a misnomer - it's not that short - it's an average size. It has a rather bulky handle that is comfortable to hold but difficult to store. The turner itself is a little on the thick side so lighter foods don't always want to cooperate but I'm pleased with it. I wouldn't buy a matching spoon becuase of the bulky handle - takes up too much room in my drawer.
For being a "short" turner, this is a big hefty tool. That's good, because it really is easy to hold and to handle with the thick handle. The cool blue color fits in with the rest of the cobalt blue line, which I have. It comes clean easy, unlike my old nylon set, where eggs would cake on.
But don't try to pick up heavy food with it, as the silicone is not rigid and will bend. After all, this is not a metal spatula. It's worth the price.
I was disappointed with the spatula. It is too flexible and too large for my hand. My husband thought the size was okay but he too thought it was too flexible. It reminded me of a diving board!
I just got done putting my new KitchenAid short turner through its paces and I am very impressed with its performance. Although this tool is smaller than its big brother in the KitchenAid lineup, it's actually a normal sized spatula/turner compared to most other brands. It is right at home in 9" - 11" skillets and handles omelette turning extremely well. It is flexible enough not to tear and damage delicate foods such as omelettes, yet sturdy enough to detach burnt on hash browns from a cast iron skillet. Like the other silicone tools made by KitchenAid, it cleans up beautifully in the dishwasher (no leftover egg residue!). I would highly recommend this product.
