Product Description:

More is more sometimes, at least in the world of small appliances. KitchenAid has introduced a new member of the stand mixer family, known as the Artisan mixer. It has a tilting head, like the KSM90, but it has a larger 5 qt. capacity bowl. It also gives you more oomph, as in 325 watts of cookie dough busting power. What's not to love? If you've been considering a stand mixer, this may be the perfect "starter model" for you.

Bad Shipping2004-05-09
When mixer was packaged for shipping, the lock lever that locks the head down was left in the unlocked position, resulting in the molded foam shipping protection being beat into small pieces, so far the mixer has worked. Mixer head was allowed to swing up and down during shipping due to faulty packing!!
Best mixer out there, bar none!2003-07-14
I bought this because it showed up on my gold box and I had been wanting a mixer. I love to make cookies, so it has come in handy. It's beautiful to look at, and heavy! The huge 5 quart bowl it comes with is super easy to care for. I just stick it in the dishwasher and it comes out looking good as ever.

The way it's designed is great too - the wisk gets everything at the bottom of the bowl. It does still fling some stuff up the sides, so I use a spatula while it's mixing - but other than that it's perfect. Would recommend to anyone! WELL worth the price tag - others just don't compare.

DisappointingGift2003-01-20
This mixer was a great disappointment! I have had a cobalt blue regular mixer for years and have used it almost every day since getting it with no problems. My mom loved mine so much that for her birthday this past August... we surprised her with a green Artisan model to match her kitchen.
The green was not nearly as attractive in front of you as on screen.
The dough hook and paddle were not the white coated kind I got with mine but felt like plastic.
The machine made a grinding noise and the motor never changed in sound from the lowest to the highest speed.
We called KA and they immediately sent a new one and picked up the original.
The new one still grinded and the motor sounded like it was overworking on the lowest speed. We called KA and the lady heard it over the phone and said something was wrong with it.
They sent yet another one and picked the previous version up. This last one smelled like the motor was over working and the grinding noise sounding like the bearings were all gone or something.
This last time... we told them to keep the mixer when they took it back and bought a completely different KA ... It works fine!
Something has been changed with this Artisan model compared to the other KA mixers!

I am so pleased with my KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Qt.Mixer. It mixed the heavest cookie dough recipe that I have with ease and two loaves of bread were a whiz to make. I ordered the Empire Green and the color is deep and vibrant. Overall this is the best mixer that I have used in 50 years of cooking.
Christmas Cookie Saviour !2002-12-23
I've been wanting one of these for years, but figured - who spends $200+ on a mixer?? well, after battling with my hand mixer, too-shallow-bowl, and 'flouring' the entire kitchen just in the first batch of Xmas cookies, I sent my husband out to the store. Unfortunately, the one my husband bought was an obvious 'return', and was obviously 'used' as evidenced by the old food matter spattered about on the mixer. Will be returning it & getting one from Amazon!!
