Good Monitor...2003-04-11
A Great Monitor2003-03-18The things I did not like - when I first plugged it in to my PC, and powered up, nothing happened. I thought perhaps I had a dud. When I unplugged it from my PC, a screen saver came on, so I knew it worked. I plugged it back in, rebooted a few times, waited a while, and it started working. I put the driver floppy in the A: drive and my Windows ME found the driver right off, installed it, and I have not had a problem since. When I was having problems getting it to work, I tried to call tech support, but they only operate M-F during the day, and I was not happy about not being able to reach someone at 8 p.m. on a Friday night. The instructions that come with it are minimal. They give a Web site to use to get an online manual. That is a little hard to do, when you are at home, and only have one PC, and no way to get that manual unless you reinstall the old monitor, then connect to the Internet. I was so glad it came up before I went that route.
Well, it all worked out. No missing pixels - if you have that problem then return it - and just a great change to my computer system...
GREAT BUY!2003-02-07I've actually been using it as my primary monitor the last month and I've been very impressed. The brightness, contrast and clarity on it is fantastic. I've used it for many graphics-intensive apps like video and photo-editing, CAD, etc... I still can't get over the quality of this thing. I'm using it in my home with normal to dim lighting, no direct sunlight and certainly no flourescent lighting (i.e. office setting) just to be clear about my point of view. Although the screen has an anti-glare treatment so it probably does well in those conditions also.
My favorite feature is it's size. It is so small that when it arrived on my porch I was certain it couldn't have been the monitor I ordered as the box was way too small for anything like that. When I opened the external packaging and saw the Envision box I still couldn't believe it could fit into something so small and light. 5 minutes later it was mounted on the stand and plugged into my PC. This has to be the smallest LCD footprint available. You can easily mount this on a wall although I haven't tried it. It couldn't be more than 2" deep. Probably more like 1.5 inches.
If I had to fault anything it would be the on-screen controls since they're mediocre but even then I'm stretching it. My Samsung has better on-screen controls but as I see it, who really cares. My interest is in image-quality, footprint size, and cost. This ones has done well for me on all three counts.
