Some different uses for a great tool!
2008-12-02Well, I have had a set of these for almost a year now and I don't know how I got along without them! Like most reviewers, I think they are a great product for the money, especially if you buy them in the two-pack. I have come up with a couple of new uses other than what most people are using them for and they work great. I have used them countless times as a horizontal load stabilizer in my box van and in the garage. You just place them sideways, push them against the box or supplies you are trying to stabilize from sliding around and give a couple of pumps on the handle, and Viola, instant stabilizer. This trick doesn't work on a standard size truck or mini-van as the bars are a little too long, but for those of you with a cargo/box van they work great. Having realized there might be other horizontal applications for these babies I started to think about tasks I have done around the house/job sites and realized they are great for unreeling electrical cable such as low voltage wiring or structured wiring where you have multiple cables and need a convienient way to unspool the cable all at once. I just pop the footpad off one end, slide on the spools of wire and then after placing the footpad back on, place them between two adjacent walls. You can't load them up with multiple spools of Romex, but for speaker, cat 5, and other low voltage stuff it works great.

FastCap 3rd Hand Support System 57-to-144-Inches,
2008-09-29My husband and I saw this nifty setup,FastCap 3rd Hand Support System 57-to-144-Inches, on the home improvement program "Cool Tools" and indeed they are. We used two of them them to support heavy pieces of ceiling drywall when we were doing a recent kitchen remodel. We both have shoulder problems and these allowed us to put in the drywall screws without either one of us standing there trying to hold up the sheet of drywall at the same time. We also used them to hold up the ends of plastic sheeting when it came time to block of the room for sanding. We may use them again when we install the upper cabinets. Great tool, glad we bought them!

Excellent for holding sheet rock in place
2008-08-10I love the 3rd hands. I used them to hold ceiling sheet rock in place while I screwed it in place. I'll have plenty of uses for my 3rd hands in the future.

One Fine Product
2008-07-01When these supports arrived, I checked the package and everything was intact. The project they were purchased for was to push exterior drywall back to the ceiling rafters. The nails that was used to hold the drywall was releasing. The ceiling I was working on was 8 x 28 ft. I started at one end and jacked the drywall back to the rafters. I used drywall screws to secure the ceiling. I think the FastCap 3rd Hand Support System is well worth the money. The units I received clams it is rated at 150 pounds. I am not sure it is capable of this weight. There were no instruction inside the box, the only instruction is what is on the side of the box.

great tool
2008-04-17I am finding more uses for this everyday. IOt's like having two helpers only better. The only con is the pole length adjustment is hard to use. I am going to get a set of shorter ones also.
