I bought this based on the Sony reputation. Most of my other electronics are sony. This little 3-disc changer looks nice. BUT! The reception is terrible. I do hear the sort static others here have complained of. I have it connected to my TV so I can have my DVD player come in through the speakers and when I shut off the TV, I can hear this static coming from the speakers. The 3-cd disc compartments are flimsy. I should have known when I bought it that it was bound to jam up, I wanted it for the cd 3 disc shuffle option. You can hear the discs change every time it is so loud. Today, after owning the thing for almost 2 years, it locked up with my CD's trapped inside. I had to pry it open with a screw driver, and now it won't close. I get err2 and err4. The instruction book trouble shoots err1 & err2 but there is no err4 in there. It randomly decided when it wanted to play any CD I created from my computer, one day it would read the disc fine, the next it would say err1, or no disc and not play. Bottom line, It is flimsy, the sound is static-y and with a radio station less the a half mile down my street, the reception comes in lowsy. Also another thing that annoyed me, I would set the clock on it and the time would go away after a few days, and I would have to set it again. NOT WORTH IT. I have to go buy something new so I can listen to my christmas music!!
Excellent Sony product2006-01-05
I bought this unit 3 years ago and enjoyed it since then. Superb sound.
Faint Radio??2005-10-24
Well as I have found out its not just THIS stero that picks up the radio signals, everything which is near a radio frequency will pick up the waves which have been reflected of cars or buildings. Even though I saw that somene rung Sony and asked about it, it should be fizable with an mains filter with RFI, or using Ferrite rings.
Hope this helps

I purchased this system because it allowed me to hook up my turntable, and I was very happy with it. I liked the minimal electricity use, and the relatively full sound output. It had a few problems with playing some CD's, but I cleaned the CD's, and everything was fine. Now, after the warranty has run out, it's level of performance is unacceptable. When playing CD-R's, it either refuses to read them, or, when it does, can't change tracks, or plays with a thwup-thwup noise while the CD is playing (this also occurs for some commercial CD's). I've taken very good care of my stereo in the time I've had it, and I feel slightly distressed that I paid as much as I did for it, and it doesn't play my CD's. I'm going to have a heck of a time finding another stereo that has the correct hook-up for my turn-table, and I'm more than a little upset that this stereo didn't stand up to the test of time.
Piece of crap2005-01-30
As I sit down to write this review, I look back on the last 45 minutes and recall with utter frustration my maniacal attempt to get 2 cds out of this infernal machine. They are still in it. The tray will not open. I've even taken the side panel off! After reading reviews here I see, in retrospect, that going out and buying something cute and small with out sound advice is Stooopid! This player started malfunctioning 4 months into our relationship together. First, tracks would repeat themselves on the shuffle mode, then whole cds wouldn't play on "All cd shuffle" mode. This is the second time the tray has refused to open. I'm afraid I didn't notice the hiss because I often sing along, but I'm sure it's there. I'll take all of your words for it.
I'm putting the panels back on and depositing this player at the nearest Goodwill. I will attach a note, "Try your luck." Fortunately, the cd's inside were really bad ones I got off ebay.

Digital cameras are good for the environment
As we consider the digital camera revolution that has taken place over the last decade, most people think about it in terms of enhanced benefits for consumers. We can take a lot more pictures at much lower cost with digital cameras versus film cameras. We can also more easily manipulate and share those photos since they're all in the digital realm. But one thing many people don't think about actually deserves mention as potentially the most profound effect of the digital camera revolution: how digital cameras greatly reduce the destructive impact on the environment compared to film cameras. At first, you might think, "How can that be? My film camera didn't harm the environment!" Even though it wasn't your camera that harmed the environment, your film processing did indeed harm it. Any time you take your pictures to a photo processing center, that film is run through batches of chemicals. These chemicals are environmental hazards, and once they are used to process film, those chem ...
A Quick Look At the Professional Digital Camcorder
Introduction Professional digital camcorders are better than your analog camcorder, or even your digital video camera. The advancements that have been made in the camcorder industry are amazing. Just like everything else they keep getting more and more advanced, and shrinking in size. Even though we have seen much advancement, the price keeps getting more and more affordable. Professionals are not the only ones who can now enjoy the wonderful benefits of a professional -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A professional digital camcorder allows creativity and quality to meet, and the cost is far lower than it was only a few years ago. Even in the late 1990's most professionals were using Betamax professional quality analog recorders, though the professional digital camcorder was starting to come into its own back then. In 1997 at a press conference in Roswell, New Mexico during the 50th anniversary of the historic alleged UFO crash ...
