Great value..misleading picture..2008-06-30
I purchased this for a Friday sale that Amazon was having. The price couldn't be beat so I stocked up and got 6. Also, this photo of the product is the older style..when it arrived it was the blue and white can that I normally purchase in the store. I was a little worried about that.
So Silly2007-01-07
I have been reading through these reviews and some of them are so silly! They call Similac a bad product just because their babies didn't take well to it, the truth is, every baby is different, some take well to it, others don't. They also have a seperate type for sensitive stomachs... I started out breastfeeding my baby but we had supply and latching issues and so I exclusively pumped for the first 3 months of her life and supplemented with formula mostly at night. I have found with my daughter, she took it right away, powder or ready made, she's not a fussy eater, but anyway, with my baby it wasnt a problem at all. Since then I have tried 2 other types of formulas, the first few days she did get constipated and gassy and it was tough, and that was with different formulas than Similac, but I found after about 2 days she was much better. It takes awhile for their little bodies to get used to something different in their systems. I winded up staying with the Similac because that's what works best for her. That doesn't mean I think Enfamil or Nestle is terrible or that I will warn other moms agains them, Similac just works better for my baby. The ready made is a little stinky, but the powder I find has no smell at all. I always mix it with warm water or wait for it to get warm before I shake it. Also I like to add Little Tummies Gas Drops into each bottle, that completely gets rid of the bubbles, I have had to use those gas drops with every formuala I have tried, my daughter gets gassy easily and they are a life saver. So in short, my opinion would be to but small amounts of each formuala brand, try it for atleast 3 days and see which one your child works better with.
A PRODUCT Review2005-08-19
I came on to read other reviews of this product, but all I found were complaints about Amazon's pricing! So here's my product review...

Similac Advance does not dissolve well in water. It clumps, which forces you to shake vigorously. After all the shaking, it becomes very foamy, and the foam does not dissipate, even after an hour or two. My seven week old had immediate problems with spit up, gas and some constipation. I have to imagine, if it's that foamy in the bottle, it's probably wreaking havoc in her little tummy! I have read very positive reviews about Enfamil Lipil, so I'm going to try it. As for price, I just shop around town. Wherever it's cheapest, I buy!

Hospital gave this formula when my daughter was born. it was working ok when she was taking breastmilk with it, but as soon as i put her completely on Similac formula. She started to get constipated. My daugher did not used to have any bowel movement for 3 - 4 days while she was only 3 months old. too much pain for her. Similac is not for good to digest and to dissolve in the water. i would not recommend it. I changed it to Netstle very best baby that is very easy to digest

Unfornately because the larger 30.8 oz size has not been available recently on Amazon.com I looked at purchasing the smaller 25.7 oz can for my twins. However, I can beat the price. Its currently 20.99 at Babies R Us and with the quantities I buy this price difference ads up.
