Buyer Beware Lexmark Review
2006-02-19I am afraid to buy another Lexmark. This is what my melted z515 looks like now, less than one year after purchase: http://www.thebradleyzone.com/lexmarkz515.jpg

Lexmark Z65n is a fire hazard!
2005-01-27I thought I smelled smoke for a couple of days around the house but couldn't figure out the source. Then I tried to print something on my Lexmark Z65n and noticed that the printer was not powered up and I couldn't turn it on with the power switch. I pulled the power supply out of the printer body (strange design) and it was red-hot and melted. Very dangerous piece of equipment here and something really bad is going to happen unless there is a recall. This is the third Z65n I've had since Lexmark has had to send me two replacements for other problems. I'm not impressed to say the least.

Two trays is awesome for Quicken users...
2004-12-06If you use Quicken, and print voucher checks to pay your bills, this is sweet... you can leave plain paper in the front and checks in the back. Why in the world don't more manufacturers make 2-3 tray inkjets? For my business, I'd like three (invoices, letterhead, plain white.) ... I'd pay extra for the convenience.
My version of the Z65 has the media reader on the right which is incredibly handy.
Have owned the printer 1.5 years. Ink usage is 'typical' and speed is above average. I don't print photos with it, I use snapfish or wal-mart for snapshots.

Okay but ink cartridge was expensive
2004-11-04I own this model to replace my HP 3-in-1 630/650 printer (I think) model that was 4 years old. Everything in the HP printer broke down gradually so I got this one.
I was happy at how fast it printed the pages compared to my HP printer but I found it rather loud. When retrieving the paper, my table (a solid wood computer desk) would shake. It also took a few seconds for it to actually print my documents. I like to chose the fast/cheap printing mode, "Quick Print" to save on ink but for some reason, I have to manually chose this option in properties. I tried to change the printing mode from "Normal" to "Quick Print" but it would never remember this. I think Lexmark did this on purpose so you will waste more ink. *sigh* When printing on "Quick Print" mode the quality of coloured pictures are horrible and streak-like. It also prints LOUDLY, you can hear it going back and forth and it even woke up my parents upstairs at night (doing last minute homework ^_^;).
After it has finished printing each page out, it literally spits it out and does not lay on the tray! I leave the room to check on stuff while printing a lot of pages, and return to see a bunch of them on the floor! I find it very annoying especially if you do not number your pages...
The ink cartridges are expensive! There are two - black & white and colour. I spend at least a $100 cdn for both of these cartridges and since I use this printer weekly it only last me a month to a month and a half. Heck, by the end of the year, I could have bought a better printer or even a digicam! T_T
I guess the good thing is that it has 2 paper loads, regular sized and the long side or whatever you want. There are only three buttons on the printer from right to left: power switch (on/off), tray 1 (the front paper tray), and tray 2 (the back paper tray). This can be convenient if you're printing different kind of pages for presentation or something but it's not really a big deal.
I also find that when I want to print out addresses on envelope with the printer with Word, it prints closer to the bottom rather than the center. I guess for a perfectionist like myself, it annoys me as it looks very unprofessional.
I paid about $160 CDN at the time it came out and am surprised to find it here on Amazon for such a cheap deal! Right now I'm in search of a new printer but until I can afford and find a reliable one (I heard Canon printers are great, I love Canon <3 ^_^), I am stuck with this one.
I have not had any problems regarding the AC Adapter, so I guess I'm one of the lucky few owners without this problem. I use a USB hub to connect the printer to my computer since all the usbs in the back of the computer is filled up. ^_^;
Overall, for the price I would recommend it for poor students like myself =P but if you can afford something $100-$150, I think a Canon would be okay.
My brother bought the same model as mine, and broke down less than 2 years. He replaced it with a Canon and sometimes I envy him. It's very quiet...

Beware
2004-08-31I've had this printer for approx. 18 months, using it moderately for my personal use. Incredibly, the ac adaptor apparently got so hot it MELTED rendering the printer useless -- and a fire hazard at that. I've never heard of such a thing happening! I will NEVER purchase a Lexmark printer again.
