Ignore Install Wizard and then it's great2010-03-06
Used the install wizard of the Linksys CD, worked great until I rebooted machine and the Linksys program showed itself in the task bar, but would not work. Reinstalled a couple of times, and the same thing happened: Each time I shut down and started back up again, the software was there but dead. Using Win XP.

Found the solution at [...]

"Remove the Linksys Adapter and un-install the Linksys Software from Programs menu...To re-install the Drivers insert the Linksys Setup CD into your CD-ROM drive, When the Welcome screen appears click Exit, connect your USB adapter now...When the Hardware Update Wizard window appears, click Install the software automatically (Recommended) then click Next...Click Finish when the installation is complete...

NOTE: The Hardware Installation screen may appear indicating that the Adapter has not passed Windows Logo testing. Ignore the window and click Continue Anyway to proceed with the installation since the Adapter has been tested and found to work with Windows XP.When Windows has finished installing the driver, click Finish.

Click on Start and goto Control Panel and double click on Network Connections...Right click on Wireless Network Connection and select View Available Wireless Networks"- If you see your wireless network in the list, highlight it by 'single' clicking on it- Now click on the 'Connect' button below- If your wireless network is secured, it would ask you to provide the network key- Provide the wireless network key and confirm it again in the confirmation box and click "Connect".It should work..."

I didn't even have to go to the control panel and open Network Connections, it opened up automatically. Just then need to enter X2 the WPE key. Now it works great, great signal almost as good as my hardwired DSL modem.

So using the wizard install, would give it one star, using the above method would give the modem five stars once I got it working.

Amazing that the Linksys install didn't work after shutting down and windows XP did.

Hope this helps, Keith K. [...]

P.S. Even with the install problem, would buy it again. Now it should be easier for you if you have the same problem. Also have read that other install problems can be solved the same way. So basically, don't use the install wizard on the CD.
Works Great2010-02-15
I replaced my kids' PC, and was surpised to find that the new PC does not have a PCI slot! So I was unable to use the internal wireless adapter that I used in the old PC. As it turns out, the signal strength is much better with this adapter, since it has a long cord, and you can move the antenna into a more favorable position. It was easy to install, and it has worked flawlessly.
Not Windows 7 Compatible2010-02-10
Very disapointing. I had to call Linksys to find out the product is not compatible with Windows 7. Linksys stated that they have no plan to write Windows 7 drivers in the future.

Newegg was good about the return, no problem !!
Fixed BSOD Problem with Older Unit2010-01-22
I had been using one of these devices for several years, but suddenly started getting a BSOD on bootup, with the Stop Error implicating "rt2500usb.sys". That file is installed by the Linksys adapter, so it was natural to suppose that the cause was a software issue. After various tests, however, I determined that the physical adapter had become defective. A new one solved the problem. If you have a similar issue, I recommend uninstalling the old Linksys software and using the software provided with the new device -- it's likely to contain some fixes.

Incidentally, the price on this item seems to fluctuate widely and suddenly. Just two weeks ago I purchased it directly from Amazon for $32.98, but it's currently being offered by other merchants at mostly higher prices.
Linksys Wireless Adapter2010-01-08
I had an older version of a linksys network adapter. It was a wireless B, and only had a max of 11mps. This is a wireless G which receives 54 mps. It's made a big difference for me, pages load much faster and usually do not stall. It works easily with my windows xp. It's backwards compadible with the B signals from a modem. It's definetly a nice upgrade if you have an older adapter.

Note: We will refer to a Core 2 Duo “T7000multiple times in this article. We were unable to get a Merom sample with 2MB L2 cache, thus we lowered the clock speed of our 4MB L2 model to 1.83GHz to perform near that of the T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache), resulting in our unofficial “T7000nomenclature. The Core 2 Duo Processor Intel has two lines of Core 2 Duo processors: notebook and desktop. Core 2 Duo for notebooks is codenamed Merom, while Core ...
