Sony RCDW500C Compact Disc Player / Recorder

Recording seems to be a hit-or-miss affair. I've recorded a full disk with no apparent problems only to have the unit fail to finalize the resulting disk. It would not even play it back. Also, although my unit is only 20 months old and has been very little used, the remote system no longer works (and no, it's not the battery). If you want reliability, buy something else!
Avoid This Like The Plague2008-10-21
Do not waste your time or money on this thing. I've had mine for a few years and it will ruin more blank discs than it will burn properly. I would guess that it has ruined somewhere around 75% of the discs I have tried to create. It will generally burn a few songs properly then give a TOC Error response which then renders the blank CD useless. The Owner's Manual is basically worthless as well. I have tried virtually every brand of "audio" CD available (even Sony) and none of them work consistently. Buyer beware !!!!..........
Familiar but I'm on my 4th one2008-10-19
I'm on my 4th one, mostly because it's so familiar to me and I have a hard time finding a similarly-priced unit that will do the same thing. BUT MAINLY BECAUSE I HAVE TO KEEP TAKING IT BACK UNDER WARRANTY!!!!!! Do NOT buy this unit without the extended warranty, it WILL give out on you.
Enjoying the Sony RCD-W500C2008-09-14
I purchased the Sony RCD-W500C at the suggestion of a friend at work. I have many older albums that I wanted to try and record on a CD format. I spent about a week reading over the manual and another day or so getting familar with the controls on the deck. I am very pleased with the sound of the albums recorded on a CD format. The sound quality seems much better to me than the sound of many albums I have as CD's. The sound quality seems very smooth and has much more range than a cassette tape. I have never had any problem getting a CD to finalize. I am using TDK Music CD-R's to record. If you take your time reading over the manual and to get familar with the controls, you should not have any problems. It is very enjoyable to get an older album on vinyl on to a CD format. I have had very good results using Sony products.

Remark2008-08-07
On the Sony RCD-W500C/W100 I bought one about a month ago and have been pleased with it. I am able to record from CD to CD even thou I have not figure out how to adjust the volume while recording from CD to CD, and from Tape to CD which I can control the volume when recording from Tape to CD. I agree with everybody else on the instruction book that it's really confusing. So before you start read it over and over. I eventually will figure out how to set the volume when recording from CD to CD but I hate to mess with what I am able to do now considering all the bad feedback on this recorder.

Driving with a cell phone is a lot less dangerous than driving on prescription drugs
There's a lot of debate today about the safety of using cell phones while driving. Statistics show that those who use cell phones while driving cause a much greater percentage of accidents than those who avoid using their cell phones. And the studies have shown that it's not just the physical coordination required to punch numbers into the cell phone while you're trying to work the vehicle that causes accidents; it's actually the lack of attention resulting from driving and talking on the cell phone at the same time. It seems that when you're distracted, you're more likely to cause accidents. In terms of public safety, it's probably correct to say that banning cell phones would reduce the number of traffic accidents. But I think, more accurately, it depends on the person. Some people are operating on, shall we say, lower power CPUs in their heads to begin with. They might be zoned out on prescription drugs, and when you add a cell phone to the equation, they do become a danger to the ...
A Quick Look At the Professional Digital Camcorder
Introduction Professional digital camcorders are better than your analog camcorder, or even your digital video camera. The advancements that have been made in the camcorder industry are amazing. Just like everything else they keep getting more and more advanced, and shrinking in size. Even though we have seen much advancement, the price keeps getting more and more affordable. Professionals are not the only ones who can now enjoy the wonderful benefits of a professional -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A professional digital camcorder allows creativity and quality to meet, and the cost is far lower than it was only a few years ago. Even in the late 1990's most professionals were using Betamax professional quality analog recorders, though the professional digital camcorder was starting to come into its own back then. In 1997 at a press conference in Roswell, New Mexico during the 50th anniversary of the historic alleged UFO crash ...
