Customer Reviews

Excellent projector for the money.2004-11-28
If you've waited for a great deal on a portable projector, your time has come. The VT46 is a dual-use projector that can display images from a PC - or from a video source such as a DVD player or VCR.

It has a native SVGA resolution of 800 by 600, but it also can display XGA screens (1024 by 768). And it uses an LCD system for its display technology.

The brightness rating is 1200 ANSI lumens, enough illumination to display a presentation in a small conference room with low lighting. And its lamp is rated to last 3,000 hours.

The VT46 is easy to set up and use. It has a zoom lens that lets you easily place it where you need it and adjust the lens to fit the image to the screen. The inputs (plus an on/off switch) are conveniently situated on the unit's rear and the unit includes a remote control and a nice carrying case.

All in all, it's an excellent projector and a great value.
Amazing projector for under $10002004-06-13
I originally considered the InFocus X1, since it is highly rated and probably 'the' most recommended projector in this price range. However, I am sensitive to the 'rainbow' effect' that DLP projectors are prone to, so I had to turn to LCD. The NEC VT46 has some favorable reviews out there, and it has a shorter throw than the X1, so I decided to pick one up. Wow! The picture is much better than I expected! Despite being a 4:3 projector, it produces an amazing picture with widescreen DVDs. The colors look very natural and the contrast is excellent. The short throw lens and manual zoom allow me to create a huge image from the coffee table, and it's also very quiet so it doesn't intrude on quiet scenes. I don't hesitate to recommend this projector; It has exceeded my expectations.
Great price and quality, until it died within 6 months.2004-04-09
This item failed within 5 months and 9 days. The Red went out. Warranty should cover it but what a inconvenience.

Driving with a cell phone is a lot less dangerous than driving on prescription drugs
There's a lot of debate today about the safety of using cell phones while driving. Statistics show that those who use cell phones while driving cause a much greater percentage of accidents than those who avoid using their cell phones. And the studies have shown that it's not just the physical coordination required to punch numbers into the cell phone while you're trying to work the vehicle that causes accidents; it's actually the lack of attention resulting from driving and talking on the cell phone at the same time. It seems that when you're distracted, you're more likely to cause accidents. In terms of public safety, it's probably correct to say that banning cell phones would reduce the number of traffic accidents. But I think, more accurately, it depends on the person. Some people are operating on, shall we say, lower power CPUs in their heads to begin with. They might be zoned out on prescription drugs, and when you add a cell phone to the equation, they do become a danger to the ...
