Name-brand battery worth the extra bucks...2009-06-04
I am a professional photographer. Every one of the eight non-Canon brand batteries I have (four different brands)outlived their warranties by only a few days. None of the six Canon brand batteries I own have ever given me any problem of any kind. One of my Canon Batteries is at least four years old and still performs beautifully. I will never buy a non-Canon battery for my Canon camera again.
Get what you pay for2009-05-03
Plain and simple: The battery holds up. It takes a charge and holds a charge. Some cheap batteries have a higher mAH rating, but if they can't hold the charge, they're not meeting the need. Past experience with other Canon batteries for other cameras convinced me that I couldn't afford to go cheap. However, I still can't give 5 stars because of the price.
Overpriced, under powered.2009-04-24
I got this battery with my 40D camera. It works fine, but I have to recharge it every second or third day of use. I just carry my camera with me when I walk my dog or going fishing, and occassionally for some macro shots in my back yard; so I may take an average of 10-12 shots a day without flash. Maybe I use the LCD too much, I don't know. What I do know is that I don't even get close to the number of photos the camera manual states I should. On the other hand, I have a high-end, high-power bicycle headlight that takes a slightly larger 2400 mAh Lithium Ion battery that will cost me $29.95 with free shipping to replace from the bike light company. It is still going strong after 2 years and many recharge cycles. If they can sell a premium quality, higher powered battery for much less, why can't Canon? Because we are paying too many dollars for the Canon name, that's why! Canon sells their cameras for a reasonable price, but they really make their money on their over-priced accessories.

I'm satifsited with the item. Nothing damage there and here. Delivery arrived earlier than expected date, though.
BP511A Li-ion battery for Canon 40D2009-03-12
Reliable and quality product. This battery maintains its charge for a very long time and delivers the amount of power necessary for about 300 pictures RAW on my Canon 40D (without flash).

Camera basics: shutter-speed, aperture and ISO
In this article, I’ll introduce you to the basic elements that you can use to control exposure in your shooting. If you have a digital SLR, there will be a way to set all of these controls on your camera, but since they differ between manufacturers and models, you’ll need to refer to your camera’s manual to find out exactly how to change them. All cameras, whether an ancient film camera, or a more modern digital, work in pretty much the same way. Photographs are taken by letting light fall onto a light-sensitive medium, which records the image. Traditionally, this has been film, but more recently, it tends to be a digital sensor. The more light that falls onto the film or sensor, the lighter the image. Put simply, a camera consists of a light-tight box that stores a light-sensitive device (either a film or a digital sensor), a lens that magnifies and focuses the image onto that light-sensitive device through a hole in the box (called the aperture) , and a shutter that opens ...
The types of camcorders
If you are planning on purchasing a camcorder, you should be familiar with the types of camcorders and how they can benefit your specific needs. The formats of video cameras include, VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8, Mini Digital Video (Mini DV), DVD and Digital 8. Each format has its pros and cons VHS The VHS format is the oldest type of camcorder. This type of video camcorder is fast becoming outdated, because you can only play back the video on a VHS VCR system. VHS camcorders are not nearly as clear as digital video camcorders that offer clear video with 540 lines of resolution, VHS video cameras only offer 240 lines of resolution. They also weigh more and are much more bulky, that dv camcorders. You can only find these video camera used because their technology is now outdated. VHS-C The VHS-C format offer 240 lines of resolution, just like VHS. These analog camcorders come in a smaller size that the VHS camcorder models, but use the same technology. The video tapes u ...
