Clean cuts, no chipout great dado set
2008-02-01This is the best dado set for the money out there! this is my 4th dado set, including a freud set. this set has a 4-wing chipper, and has marked shims and is easy to set up. I have been well pleased.
The case is really nice as well, and keeps all the parts secure for storage.
Delta also puts their label on this same set. From what I've been told by factory reps, this set was highly researched among woodworkers and cabinet shop operators with an eye on getting it right and affordable. In my opinion they succeeded! I have used this dado set for building cabinets for a bathroom remodel, and every dado and rabbit cut has been very accurate and without chip - in red oak. This is a better set than the freud pro set I have, and also the old style delta that I owned. The set-up is easy with all the chippers and shims clearly marked with fractional thickness identifiers. Really good stuff! Highly recommended!
There are other dado sets on the market that are just as good, but they are very pricey. Some sell for nearly $300.00 or more.

This dado is GREAT!!
2007-09-26I've only previously owned a Crafstman dado set before but this set is great and far superior to the Craftsman. It leaves smooth and pricise dado cuts.

Good cuts, problems with shims
2007-09-25I've had my set for over a year and used it fairly extensively. The cuts are smooth and in general I'm very satisfied. The only problem I've encountered is with the shims. The hole provided is just a hair bigger than the standard arbor and frequently the shims will hang up on a thread. You must be extremely careful to check that the entire stack is tight before applying power. I've had the arbor nut nice and tight and found the inside cutter furthest away from the nut spinning freely. I've begun using card stock for inserts as an alternative.

Does everything you'd expect it too and more...
2007-09-254 tooth chippers, lots of shims that come pre-labeled, a nice carrying case and all that for right around $100 w/ shipping. You won't find a high quality product and case like this for the money, even if it is made in China!

bent outer blades, twice
2007-08-25This product has been quite a disappointment. On the first try, I used it once and then noticed the outer blade did not sit flush against the base of the arbor, and when I tried to remove it from the arbor it required considerable force. It did cut a nice dado, but I was concerned about safety and possible damage to my saw. So I sent it back to Grizzly, which has great customer service. They paid my shipping and promptly replaced the dado set.
Sadly, the second set has the same problem only worse -- the blade simply is not flat. I am not sure whether I will just return this set and buy a more expensive but better made set or perhaps just cut dadoes with a router from now on. It's a shame since so many others seem to have found this a good product. I wonder why I've gone 0 for 2.
