KitchenAid Pro Line 4-Slice Toaster
2007-02-24Our entire family loves this new toaster. At first we were skeptical about the lack of popping up, but the beep to tell you your toast is done works excellent, and keeps the bread warm until you raise the toast yourself. It also goes with all our other KitchenAid products, all of which we are extremely pleased with. After we bought ours, we saw it on the TV show "Brothers and Sisters" with one of the characters raising his toast. The kids liked our toaster even better after that! I'm an engineer, so pleasing me is not easy. I give this toaster 5 stars!

Adequate but not worth the money
2006-10-10I've owned the KitchenAid Pro Line 4 slice toaster for acouple of years now....actually I'm on my second one. The first one (bought from Williams Sonoma when they were the "exclusive" sellers, who no longer carry it.....so that should be a tip off right there) was recalled by the manufacturer due to faulty wiring that allegedly caused/could cause a fire (yikes). After I owned toaster #1 acouple of months half the heating elements stopped working....pretty bad for such a pricey machine. The company, to it's credit, quickly replaced it with a new one without any hassle...it was being recalled any way. The "new one" is now about 2 years old. The pros: good looking, very solid, wide slots, manual leavers to raise the toast. The cons: super expensive, heavy, big, must set on very high settings (at least 7 out of 9) to actually get toast instead of warm bread. The first one was very inconsistent but the second replacement machine is fairly consistent and does actually toast. I've owned Krups, Cruisinart, and cheap toasters in the past. I can't see that this pricey toaster does a better a job (or even as good a job) for the $$, although it does look nice. I bought into the Pro Line because of my previous experience with KitchenAid mixers (mine is 25 years old, is going strong and has worked flawlessly) and expected the same high function and quality in the toaster. But the Pro Line isn't up to par, at least the toaster isn't. So save your $$$$$ and buy a cheaper toaster.
