Better than Bare Minerals
2008-11-11I'd been using Bare Minerals only to get is ALL over my bathroom every morning. So I switched over to Dior powder which was good but made my face look too matte. I'd been loving the Philosophy lotions and soaps so I decided to pick some of this foundation up. Boy am I glad I did. The color blends so well with little effort. I LOVE how you apply it. It's not messy or difficult! It makes my skin just look nice and fresh instead of all made up. I HIGHLY recommend this foundation!!

My "holy grail" 3 season foundation
2008-11-07
The product:
I've been using this since it was introduced when there were only 3-4 colors. I used to use B.E. but was always unhappy as it had too much "luminosity" for me. I love the lightweight, not there, feel of the product and the buildable quality; the sponge makes application a breeze...I DO NOT recommend this(by itself)for people who have a lot of scarring or discoloration to cover as the most coverage it provides is medium. I say this is my HG 3 season foundation as I go back to a liquid in the winter when my skin tends to be drier & flakier which this, and pretty much any powder foundation, will accentuate. It can also accentuate any lines/wrinkles you may have. In the summer, I usually use MAC Blot or Urban Decay DeSlick powder over the top to help with oil control & pore minimization. Color selection for me is very good, I use colors ranging from porcelain to beige & throw in some bronze for summer. I'm not sure what I'd do if they stop making this.
The Packaging: the sponge is a great delivery system, I have had no sanitary issues & have never washed or replaced a sponge on any of my containers. I also have not experienced any more breakouts than when I use liquid foundation, actually I've had fewer. I like the overall design but find the mirror a waste.
The Price: for the amount you get, this is expensive.
I would give 5 stars for the product itslef but the price knocks it down to 4.

My favorite foundation!
2008-10-28This is by far the best foundation product on the market for a on-the-go girl. When I have time, I do tend to use bare essentuals, so I can do a precision work up using less foundation... This is great for when you have to go out, and just need a quick cover up for blotches, works everywhere!. I have I do generally have large pores, that used to pop out when I used liquid foundation, but I stopped nearly 8 years ago, and good riddance! This is a fantastic product... one thing I have to say to a prior reviewer... try the micro-dermabration by philosophy and some calming masks, try Astara to help with the large pores. It might help with your skin problems. Another good thing for very large pores, is glycolic treatments, which will exfoliate the surface skin cells. Try this product again when your skin has calmed down, I guarantee you will love it. Goodluck!

great product!!
2008-10-15Wow, I LOVE this foundation!!! I don't have to use anything but this ever again!!

Review from someone who wears no foundation
2008-10-03I'm someone who uses only concealer under my eyes, a little eyeliner on the top lids and a touch of mascara, so needless to say I do not like a lot of makeup on and don't wear foundation. I received a tiny free sample of this powder in beige and thought I'd try it out at home one night for fun. I was very surprised to see how nice it looked, just a little seemed to really even out my skin tone, and I couldn't even notice I had powder on which was my biggest concern. I now use a little every day (with a brush, since my sample didn't come with a sponge) and love it, and will buy a full size one when my sample runs out. I also have sensitive skin and have had no reactions to the product.

If you're hair is simply dry and frizzy -- just parched and straw-like and you've had no previous color -- you can definitely color your hair. And actually, if you use an ammonia-free, non-permanent hair color product with added moisturizers, your hair will look and feel healthier, thanks to smoothe ...
Makeup Trends: What's In, What's Out
When it comes to beauty this fall, think simple and refined. Even though the season's fashion trends include plenty of glamour, beauty trends are simple: Hair is soft and natural rather than ultra-styled. Makeup is pared down ‑- less fussy. And super-glossy lips have lost their luster. In a nutshell, too cute is out, and grown-up is in. Here, the trends to embrace and let go of this season.
In: Naturally shaped brows. Makeup artist Deborah Grayson loves brows that aren't overly tweezed or severely shaped. They're in keeping with this season's more natural and subdued looks, whether your style is bohemian or classic.
Out: Outrageously arched brows. Brows that are exaggeratedly shaped or overly filled in can appear pretentious.
In: A more matte visage. This season, the idea is to moderate the shine enough to give yourself a refined rather than a childlike look.
Out: A dewy visage. A super-dewy face is so summer.
In: Lighter lashes. Gently enhance what Ma Nature gave you by going ...
