Great Lens!2010-03-14
I have been greatly pleased with this purchase, this is a great lens fast acting in auto focus. Had Sigma lenses back in the film days of photography, glad to know they're still great in the digital age.
OK,It's Not a Nikon, But the Glass is Good!2010-03-03
If you're in the same financial position as I am, you probably gulp when checking out the prices of OEM lenses. Sigma offers a really good alternative. This particular lens is as unwieldy as it's competitors, but gives good quality photos. The macro feature (read the instructions before using!) is a pretty neat bonus, too. Check out the Sigma line if your wallet is not bulging with greenbacks.
For beginners like me, it's does the job.2010-02-28
Okay, i'm on a budget and i'm a beginner. This does the job for me. The quality of this glass is really good and it does exceptionally well with macro shots.

It also produces great Bokeh.

But if you're taking macro shots of objects that are a few inches away, this isn't for you.
(Try getting sigma/canon 50mm and get an extension tube or buy a more expensive Macro lens if you have the moolah.)

This lens is really affordable and a must for semi beginner like me.

Have had to have it repaired, not sure why, wish we would have checked Consumer reports on this item, we may have made a different choice of a lens.
Well worth the money.2009-12-30
I bought this lens as a birthday gift for my wife. We use it with our Canon Digital Rebel XT and it works perfectly. The lens has a very good picture quality and is very easy to attach/remove from the camera. Of course, it comes with lens covers for both ends of the lens and they are very good quality covers; actually, IMO, better than the lens covers that our Canon lens came with. They stay on well and provide great protection for traveling.

The lens has a switch on it to go from normal photography to macro shots. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and ease of use with macro photos with this lens. It is easy to take good quality macro shots with this lens (and trust me, I'm a beginner!).

Overall, I am very well pleased with this lens and think you will be too!

Audio & Video Connections Guide
" For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three." - Alice Kahn This quote is certainly applicable to consumer electronics. From the very first commercially produced radios to the latest in high-definition television technology, the manner in which the components used to deliver our news, music, movies and entertainment are interconnected seems to have escaped logic. For both the newcomer and the old hand alike, connecting equipment in the most efficient and effective manner can be a painful chore. It is hoped this article will improve your background knowledge concerning potential A/V system connection schemes and where each is most appropriate. The next time you find yourself in a "connectivity quandary" perhaps the ideas shared here will help you to quickly solve the riddle of which wire goes where and why! Digital cameras are good for the environment
As we consider the digital camera revolution that has taken place over the last decade, most people think about it in terms of enhanced benefits for consumers. We can take a lot more pictures at much lower cost with digital cameras versus film cameras. We can also more easily manipulate and share those photos since they're all in the digital realm. But one thing many people don't think about actually deserves mention as potentially the most profound effect of the digital camera revolution: how digital cameras greatly reduce the destructive impact on the environment compared to film cameras. At first, you might think, "How can that be? My film camera didn't harm the environment!" Even though it wasn't your camera that harmed the environment, your film processing did indeed harm it. Any time you take your pictures to a photo processing center, that film is run through batches of chemicals. These chemicals are environmental hazards, and once they are used to process film, those chem ...
