Great camera for.....2010-08-11
Got this camera on keh.com web site as a used but in excellent + condition (which it is) for under sixty bucks. What a deal ! But I had to buy the rechargable battery and charger from amazon.com. No biggie. Takes fabulous pictures, is built like a fort, easy, easy to operate. Will carry around in my purse for those just in case pictures. I am pleased as pie with this camera ! I don't plan to use it underwater (it's advertised for under water use) but if I do happen to drop it, I can't imagine anything would happen. I mean this camera is solid, solid, solid. I have 3 other Olympus digital camera, all bought used and all work perfectly. Don't think I will be buying new anytime soon. Buying used just saves so much money as long as you buy from a trusted source with a good return policy !
olympus is garbage2010-07-25
i bought an olympus camera several years ago. huge mistake. worked once then stopped working 1st day on my trip to jamaica...got about 8 lousy quality pictures. olympus refused to repair it, so spent $35 to fix it. didn't finish a roll with it and took it about 10 months later to cancun. optimistic fool me. stopped working the 1st day after half a roll. lucky for me my friend had a kodak and got double prints. avoid this company. they make garbage and don't stand behind it. and take a spare camera along if u can.
robust case but poor quality2010-03-29
I did numerous tests b/w my [[Nokia N95 5MP]] camera and the Stylus 7MP Olympus at SHQ (super high quality) and if you blow the pictures up to fill a typical laptop screen, the details from the Olympus are pathetic in comparison to the N95 despite the Olympus photos occupying several times as many megabytes. The ruggedness of the Olympus is, of course, great. The coloration from the Olympus seemed as good or better than the Nokia so ... if I was just showing my photos on a small screen I'd prefer the Olympus photos. I typically like ample megapixels because I do so much cropping but zooming in on the details of the Olympus photos is a BIG disappointment.
Does not take clear pictures2010-03-20
I bought this camera new, does not take clear pictures, took if back to the camera shop and they said it was ok. I do not use it, it does not take clear picutres.
I wasted about $400.00. Would not recommend. Yes you can drop it and put it in water but what good is it if it does not take good clear pictures?
Well Worth The Investment! No Regrets Whatsoever2009-07-15
I've had this camera for about 3 years now and it finally broke. Let me tell you though I really got my money's worth. Between my wife, our two young (read "not particularly careful") children and I, we've probably taken thousands of pictures and video clips using this camera.

When I ordered it I was looking for an underwater digital camera to take to the beach and the pool and this was one of only two that I could find at the time. I don't even remember what brand the other camera was but who cares?? This one was perfect for my needs.

Now I'm no photography expert. I just wanted a point-and-shoot camera that took great pictures and video clips, and that's exactly what I got.

Takes really nice, clean pictures and video clips (with sound) and transferring them to either iPhoto on my MAC or the documents folder on my PC is a breeze. I didn't even need to install any software to do it.

After years of sea and pool water shots and a couple of falls the camera has finally started to act up, (refusing to start up sometimes) but we got 3 years of trouble-free service out of it even with the torture we put it through and to expect it to last forever would just be ridiculous.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and if I can't get it fixed I'm gonna just buy the newer model. The people at Olympus have themselves a loyal customer here.
