I had the Phillips Sonicare Elite 5300 for four years. This was a great upgrade able to use two different head types and different gentle settings for brushing. Comes with two heads and a carry case. A great step up for not too much money.

Far superior to any Oral-B2008-12-20
Prior to purchasing the Sonicare I had a handful of Braun Oral-B power toothbrushes. I liked them enough, but after giving the Sonicare a try I know I will not be going back to Oral-B anytime soon.

The Elite e9500 includes a nice travel case, a regular and compact brush head, a timer, 2-speeds, and a battery charge status display. My favorite feature is the customizable brushing timer. I set my for a 2:30 brush. It pulses every 30 seconds to let me know to move onto another section of my mouth, and when the "dentist recommend" 2 minutes are up I use the remaining 30 seconds to lower the speed and massage my gums.

The only negative for this model Sonicare is that some kind of slimy gunk builds up in the head of the brush. The first time it fell out I was both grossed out and fascinated by it (I need to get out more... I know). However, if you simply unscrew the top and rinse it out with water then give it a quick bang against the sink that problem goes away.

All in all... It may be expensive, but keeping your teeth healthy is important.
The best i ever had2008-12-14
I had an electric toothbrush as a teenager and then tried another briefly a few years ago. they just chugged along. I thought i couldn't do better than the manual method which i've used with great success most of my life (i'm 57) but now that i've started using the SoniCare i'll never go back. it's got an awesome ultra sonic-like action that is super efficient. buy it! (on sale if you can).
