Not so hot
2008-08-13I bought this for my wife, who absolutely hates chopping up onions. The bottom tends to fall off, sending chunks of onions all over the place. Also, the blades might not be sharp enough, because a lot of the onion pieces are not cut all the way through. I end up having to come in and slice everything up by hand, so this gadget is going to end up in our 'wasted money' pile in our basement.

Good chopper
2008-01-17I love this chopper. My mom has one from Pampered Chef that I liked when I lived there, and since I'm on my own I asked for one for Christmas. I got the pink because it supports breast cancer.
I will admit, you do have to cut things up into smaller pieces in order for the chopper to work, but it's better than if you have to dice an onion. Especially for me because my eyes get so watery and burn when I cut onions, I literally have to sit down and rub my eyes for a few minutes! You only have to cut it into quarters.
I cut carrots with it the other day and thought for sure that it would take a lot of effort, but it didn't!
I've cut onions, peppers, carrots, and celery so far and it's worked like a charm. Dishwasher safe and all the parts come apart and wash nicely. Just be sure you let it air dry in seperate pieces or it gets moldy (probably something I should have known before!).
Would definitely reccomend this to other cooks.

cute but not functional!!
2007-05-24this device is so cute. i love the pink color. it matches everything in my kitchen, because my kitchen is pink. the piece that separates the blade from the food does not stay on very well. the blades are DIFFICULT to clean. i make guacamole in mine and i have to take a butter knife to get in there and clean all of the avocado out.

Best Hand-Operated Food Chopper
2007-05-21I have tried several of these hand-operated food choppers since they came out a couple of years ago, and this one is by far the best! I comes apart so it can be thoroughly cleaned in the dishwasher. It has a little side scraper so that as the food is being chopped and gets up on the sides of the clear plastic the little food scraper keeps it in the middle under the blade. It has the lid to the bottom so you can chop on any surface but as an added bonus you can unscrew the blade and put a lid on top of the clear plastic and store your chopped food until you're ready - extra lid is included! It has a very smooth chopping action and it's very easy and comfortable to use. Plus it's PINK and for an AWESOME cause! This is a must have in any busy mom's kitchen!

Cheap plastic ruins this product
2007-03-12I bought this after seeing a similar product being used on a cooking show. It does fine with garlic or nuts, but not too well with onions. The problem I have with it is it just feels CHEAP. The plastic is thin and brittle. I ended up buying a smaller version made by OXO that is much better quality. And it also has a plunger that locks down for storage.
