an exciting war game
2010-03-17this game is really a kill zone, it is fantastic, the helghans are truly tough and smart warriors.

Great game, but could have been much better.
2010-03-14This game should have been a 5 star, 10/10, A+ game. It has the potential to be so. But Its not. Heres why...
when I turned on my PS3 with my brand new 60$ copy of killzone 2, I was amazed. the graphics are awesome, the gameplay is great, the sound is fantastic. If I had to rate each part of this game I had to give it 5 stars in almos everything. Yet as a whole, Its an 8.5/10.
Heres the biggest flaw: the story of the game has its highs but is very poor. Its like they thought of it overnight and had no real intention to create a really captivating story. That makes the single player campaign far from great. Besides, it ends too fast. The campaign is too short for me. Not worth the price.
The best of the game is the online multiplayer. It doesnt require a fast internet connection, the range of weapons and classes is excellent, and the way each class complements and balances with the other is very good. You could easily group with three players and share voice communication and positions, making it easy and fun playing with friends online.
After all, they missed a really good chance in making an epic game with a better longer story, and perhaps a co-op campaing mode. They had all the ingredients there.

Above and Beyond
2010-03-10I paid $60 for this game when it came out. I've also bought all the dlc. I still feel like I robed Guerrilla Games. I still like to play the linear, straight-forward, yet completely awesome single-player. I've spent most of the time playing the multiplayer. I like to think when I play, so mix and matching class abilities was a lot of fun. This is one aspect of the game I think people who don't get.
One interesting combination of class abilities I've used was finding a shotgun, using cloak, and proximity mines in an enemy base. I'll be standing right next to them and they won't see their death coming.
Pros:
Original sci-fi setting
Extremely great production values
Believable movement, both for your character, and when enemies get hit
Class-based multiplayer with two special abilities adding a great deal of strategy
Multiplayer matches roll through objectives constantly changing the focal point of the battle
Cons:
Some people think the controls. I love the controls.
Can't use cover in multiplayer (kind of odd)

Keeps you going
2010-02-20It's Good in general. Will keep you going and engaged with its story line. The aiming and shooting controls are not as good as Call of Duty, but you'll get used to it once started. The battles and engagments with the enemies are very good and its much more of a war.

Too hard even on easy.
2010-02-15I'm am not a big fan of first person shooters. But on occasions I may come across a game that is actually fun. This game started off good but as usual as you progress through the game the AI becomes increasingly difficult. I was doing fairly well athough to be honest the computer ended up doing most of the work because it is almost impossible to aim with the analog stick. The targets move around too quickly for me to get a good aim on them and most of the time I end up wasting shots. The respawning enemies really became a problem for me. Too often they will throw me into a situation where there are too many enemies for me to handle at once. I try to find a covered position where I can get a better handle of the situation and most of the time this works but I got to a stage in this game where there were no covered positions and I had to use a tactic that I absolutely hate, run and gun. Needless to say after three hours of playing from the same saved point over and over and never clearing the stage I realized this was as far as I was going to get in this game. More money down the drain on a game I can't play. I am really getting tired of this.
I guess I'm still not a fan of first person shooters.

I guess I didn't do as bad as I thought. I didn't realize I was so close to beating this game. I'll have to give that stage another go with a little help from a strategy guide.
This game is unique in that it only allows you to carry two weapons at any given time. The down side to this is that one of those weapons is always going to be a handgun. It's nice that they give you infinite ammo but the range and rate of fire makes the weapon almost completely useless. The assault rifles because of my difficulty aiming with the analog stick tends to run out of ammo very quickly. I don't understand why this game has so many different kinds of assault rifles. Only one is worth holding on to because of the red dot sight. They have two other kinds in this game at which you can always find plenty of ammo for since both of these guns are mainly carried by the enemy but I don't understand what the differences between them are. The sniper rifle would have been useful to me if I was allowed to carry it along with my assault rifle. But as I mentioned before you're only allowed to carry a rifle and pistol. This can be very annoying in stages where you'll need to take out targets with the RPG and you'll have swarms of enemies coming at you. I can't tell you how many times I got killed because I was trying to destroy a tank and I had to drop my rifle to pick up a RPG. After I destroyed the tank I had to quickly pick up my assault rifle again but before I could I was killed by a second swarm of enemies that suddenly spawned when I destroyed the tank. The pistol is completely useless against a swarm of enemies especially with my aim. And my computer controlled partner for some reason at this point in the game can't give me any cover fire. I don't understand that. The guy is carrying a machine gun. He should be able to keep the enemy back.
As my review title states, this game is hard and I wouldn't recommend this game for anyone who isn't a hardcore gamer.
