Great Multi-Purpose Phone2006-05-24
I've had this phone for almost 6 months now and have really enjoyed using it. It replaced my iPod as well I take many more pictures now. I agree with previous reviewers that it takes a little put of usage to adjust to the remote on how to fast forward, stop and rewind but it only took 2 days of messing around with it. Phone reception is quite good for me, I live in the San Francisco area and use Cingular and get good reception throughout the Bay Area. I sync this phone with Outlook and don't have problems with it at all. There are times when my Dell laptop doesn't register that I've connected the phone but that's fairly rare. The camera is great for online purposes, I use it for all my blog photos. The walkman portion of it is great I use it when I run, at work and bike. With a 2GB memory stick I have plenty of music to listen to. I totally reccomend this phone if you want a multi-function device and are willing to live with the extra heft.
One of the best mobile phones to date.2006-05-20
This mobile phone is pricey ($680+), and a bit bulky, but it is by far one of the best mobiles phones on the market to date. It does just about anything you could ask for from a mobile phone, from having a built-in 2.0 megapixel digital camera, a built-in Walkman with storage space up to 2 GB, a built-in web browser, Bluetooth and much more.

Unforunately, the W900i downgrades the FM radio experience. With the W810i, the FM radio was integrated into the phone. With the W900i, however, it's been moved to the remote, and RDS support has been removed.
Terrible phone2006-04-29
My review of the W800, which is very similar to this one :

"This is one of the worst buy I have ever done and without a doubt the worst (and most expensive) phone I've ever owned. I bought mine about 4 months ago and I still curse at it daily. That's how bad it is.

So many bad stuff I don't know where to start...

1) Some basic phone 101 functions are not included. For example, if a friend sends you a text message to ask you the number of your friend John, on most phones you can access your "contacts" while writing the message, and get John's number automatically. I could already do that on my first phone back in 1997; but no such thing on this 400 $, 2005 phone. You have to remember the phone number or write it on a piece of paper and then type it yourself.

2) When someone who is not yet in your contact list sends you a text message, you should be able to use that message to save their phone number, right ? Wrong. On this state-of-the-art phone, you need to pretend to call then, then quickly cancel the call, then scroll through to your "called numbers" list, and from there you can save the new phone number.

Another great thing is, if you miss someone's call, the phone will not tell you when that call was. So if you left your phone unattented and you see at 11:30 PM that someone called you, you have no idea when. Was it 10 mins ago, in which case you could call back ? Or what is 5 hours ago ? You have no way of finding out. Great feeling. Another 101 function not included.

Just these 3 things give you an idea of how well-designed this phone is.

More bad stuff:

3. The PC software is horrible and counter-intuitive. It will take hours for you to understand how it works and start transfering music to the phone.

4.The mp3 player software is awful to navigate in. Plus external buttons are badly designed and you sometimes jump to another song without wanting it, or start playing songs by accident while using the phone.

5. Random exasperating fact : I have a one Giga memory card and there is about 200 megas of free space on it. Yet every two days I have to spend time deleting text messages because the phone cannot save those on the memory card. And you can't receive new messages when the allocated "text message memory" is full. I can tell you, it's a great feeling to have to drop everything and chose some msgs to delete, in order to receive your new messages, all the while knowing you have enough space to store about 4 full CDs on your card.

There is more but I guess you got the message. Just don't buy this overpriced, underdesigned exasperating piece of...phone. I am going to post this review on a few sites, I've never done that before but I guess getting pissed off every day for 4-months deserves some retaliation."

Buyer beware.
It's good, ... but not perfect!2006-03-18
It has everything you imagine ... except it doesn't have applications like P990i which is coming soon. In other words, you are bound to what W900i supports and that's it, but in P990i you can update your mobile to support other files too.

If you don't care much about the cost then I advice you to wait for P990i, otherwise go for this one, you'll not be missing a lot from Sony's new technology.
Yes, it's the Sony Ericsson W900i UMTS Music Phone2006-02-09
The main focus of the new W900i is the design. The swivel style copied from SE Japanese phone has been proved very successful in previous S700i. This time, the similar design appears again. Sony Ericsson added more and more Japanese feels by introducing pure black and white + orange color variation. Walkman Music features and 2 mega pixels camera that can be existed in a 2G phone become the second and third attraction. The 3G video call, streaming video in return become the greeneries.
