Disappointed in Atlanta2008-07-19
DO NOT buy these HP Lightscribe discs. They are unreliable. My PC recovery discs (2 different sets) have both failed.

For absolute top quality DVD+R media or CDs, buy Taiyo-Yuden. I believe that Amazon sells these, or others do too. They're slightly more expensive, but you will not have failures.
Great Lightscribe DVD's2007-05-23
The HP Lightscribe are as good as any on the market. I've had more success with this brand than any other. I've used lightscribe for some time now and will not go back to any other lable type DVD's.
For a darker burn there is no reason to burn twice. Go to [...]lightscribe[...] and download the ELCU program for lightscribe drives. This is a contrast inhancement program that will do the job for you. It does extend the time of a burn, but not as much as burning 2 times or more.
This program also has the ability to reset your contrast to the original state and uninstalls complete. I'm using XP Pro SP2, I've also used it on Media Center and Vista.
Time consuming, but great results2007-05-11
>>>Your first copy WILL NOT be as dark as you expected.<<<

If you're still shopping around > get the Verbatim spindle, as it seems to print much darker on your first try.

If you're stuck with the HP spindle > here is the trick: don't panic if your first copy doesn't look good. The disks have a little ring in the middle that tells the burner exactly where to start/resume burning > this means you can put THE SAME disk in the burner and re-print the image, thus resulting in a much darker print. If you have the time to tinker with it, burn it 2-3 or even 4 times for the results you're looking for.

Trust me > I had the same exact reaction at first, but I love working with lightscribe now.

Problem solved.
Reliable2007-03-26
After burning hundreds of labels and videos, the HP LightScribe 16x DVD-R discs have proven to be reliable.

Yes, the label contrast is a bit light, but this is a known issue with all (current) LightScribe discs. The LightScribe website, as well as all the manuals that I have seen, suggest burning the label a second time for better contrast. Black appears as a dark gray after one burn, but looks much darker after a second pass.
Below expectations2007-01-12
The label burned with my lightscribe turned out to be far too light and blurry

A Quick Look At the Professional Digital Camcorder
Introduction Professional digital camcorders are better than your analog camcorder, or even your digital video camera. The advancements that have been made in the camcorder industry are amazing. Just like everything else they keep getting more and more advanced, and shrinking in size. Even though we have seen much advancement, the price keeps getting more and more affordable. Professionals are not the only ones who can now enjoy the wonderful benefits of a professional -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A professional digital camcorder allows creativity and quality to meet, and the cost is far lower than it was only a few years ago. Even in the late 1990's most professionals were using Betamax professional quality analog recorders, though the professional digital camcorder was starting to come into its own back then. In 1997 at a press conference in Roswell, New Mexico during the 50th anniversary of the historic alleged UFO crash ...
Driving with a cell phone is a lot less dangerous than driving on prescription drugs
There's a lot of debate today about the safety of using cell phones while driving. Statistics show that those who use cell phones while driving cause a much greater percentage of accidents than those who avoid using their cell phones. And the studies have shown that it's not just the physical coordination required to punch numbers into the cell phone while you're trying to work the vehicle that causes accidents; it's actually the lack of attention resulting from driving and talking on the cell phone at the same time. It seems that when you're distracted, you're more likely to cause accidents. In terms of public safety, it's probably correct to say that banning cell phones would reduce the number of traffic accidents. But I think, more accurately, it depends on the person. Some people are operating on, shall we say, lower power CPUs in their heads to begin with. They might be zoned out on prescription drugs, and when you add a cell phone to the equation, they do become a danger to the ...
