Your Celestron SkyScout is a highly sensitive, fragile and costly piece of equipment and needs to be handled with care when you use it in the field. That's just what we kept in mind while making the ScoutCase which is designed to protect your SkyScout from dust, dirt, moisture and accidental drops.

Made of top grade polyurethane material that looks and feels like leather, the ScoutCase has an excellent finish. The foam padded interior provides a snug fit and added protection. The comfortable hand grip and adjustable strap also ensures you don't accidentally drop the ScoutCase.

The ScoutCase is designed to be left on the SkyScout at all times so you can make full use of the SkyScout. All the buttons and the LCD screen are totally protected by a transparent plastic cover, completely visible in the dark and always fully accessible. A headphone slot at the rear end of the ScoutCase lets you connect the audio jack with absolute ease. What's more, the ScoutCase does not interfere with or block the GPS signals on which the SkyScout operates in any way. In fact, you will find it much easier to handle the SkyScout within the ScoutCase than without it.

The only time you will need to take the SkyScout out of the case is while changing batteries or connecting the SkyScout to a computer for updates. The case and the SkyScout also comfortably fit into the storage bag you get with the SkyScout.

Not as good as Skyscout provided case2009-05-02
I bought this for my wife's new Skyscout I got her for Christmas. To our surprise, this "quality" product is a very loose fit, the Skyscout lenses are exposed all the time. With the clear plastic over the operation buttons it is hard to get correct functions of Skyscout. I also makes the led display hard to read in the dark. To us this is a wasted $25. A product I can't recommend to anyone.
Good idea for the SkyScout2009-01-23
The Scoutcase is a good idea for anyone that has the SkyScout. I wouldn't call it perfect, but it's a good case. It fits fairly well, offers some protection from drops etc., and seems pretty well made. You won't mistake the vinyl construction for leather though. There have been reports on the internet that the clear plastic on the case that is supposed to protect the display and lens, actually scuffs them up. I have not seen this yet, but it has been reported. To remove the batteries, or use a tri-pod, you have to remove the SkyScout from the case. I feel much safer using my SkyScout with the Scoutcase on. All in all, it's a worthwhile purchase.
Great Case Protective For SkyScout - Recommended2009-01-01
While I really enjoy using the Celestron SkyScout Personal Planetarium, we could not let my kids use it because we were concerned about them dropping it since there wasn't a convenient way for them to securely grip the unit. The "ScoutCase", resolves that issue by providing a good grip along with the added benefit of very nice protective covering.

The case allows for easy access to all of the SkyScout controls, readouts, and ports, with the notable exception of the tripod mount. This is important for me since we occasionally use the SkyScout mounted with the Celestron SkyMaster Giant 15x70 Binoculars w/Tripod Adapter using a double headed tripod mount. This means that we do have take it out of the case when we want to use it this way. Not much of an issue, but worth noting since the product description fails to mention this design issue.

Overall, the ScoutCase is a great and much needed accessory to protect your SkyScout investment. Highly Recommeneded!

This soft-sided case for the Celestron SkyScout works every bit as well as claimed. Perfect fit, no problem operating the buttons, no impact on the functionality/sensitivity of the SkyScout. I would buy this case again.

Like another reviewer, I happened across this product in Amazon by accident. Also like another reviewer, it immediately struck me as a useful thing to have.

The case shipped very quickly and I have no complaints.

The quality of the construction is good and it makes gripping the SkyScout SO MUCH BETTER. I'm also a lot less nervous now when I hand it to other people to use.
