Unique 3D input device
2009-12-30Autodesk Inventor 2009 Essentials PlusThe Essential Blender: Guide to 3D Creation with the Open Source Suite BlenderThe functionality of the device is excellent - especially for users of 3D modeling routines like Blender, Adobe Inventor and Rhino3D. You have to try this item to see how great it is for Google Earth.
Company sent a replacement device after the first one failed. Must say that I am very impressed with this company's commitment to customer satisfaction. Recommend products from 3DConnection!

Exellent for Modeling
2009-12-04It is amazing to me how many people bought this to play with google earth! This device is really intended to be used in a solid modeling program such as Catia, SolidWorks, ProE, etc. And it is great, takes a little while to get used to, but once you are used to it you will love it, it changes the way you work and makes designs go much faster. Gotta give it to 3D Connexions though, there marketing team seems to have done a great job getting this sold outside of the 3D modeling market!

A MUST for Google Earth!
2009-11-13This item takes Google Earth to the next level, especially if you are viewing 3D buildings or geography. You can 'fly around' the entire planet with ease. It is a lot of fun. It is MUCH easier to do with this item than with a regular mouse. I was going to buy a joystick when I found this item. I'm glad I did! I don't think a joystick would work as well as this item. It is also good for Google SketckUp, but does not make as much of an impact as it does for Google Earth. Get it and have fun travelling the globe!

3DConnexion - The Spaced out Navigator
2009-11-11Ok, My review of this product is going to be very brief. If you are looking to purchase the SpaceNavigator for ONLY SUPPORTED 3D applications which you can find located on their website [....] then great. If you are looking, as I was to use this as a Jog Wheel for video editing or even to load the software as an assignable joystick port, then stay away from this product.
The developers for years have yet to release an "Assignable" driver for this product. Users of the forums have developed their own which is not Windows authorized and cannot be loaded onto your Vista machine without serious hacking. The list of applications this item supports is impressive for those into ONLY 3D Modeling but absolutely worthless to everyone else.
I would check to see for other options.
Overall the equipment itself is sleek, nice but doesn't weigh enough for pull options. The problem is, I purchased this to use with Adobe After Effects and Vegas Pro as a Video Jog Wheel. However, the drivers do not support these applications so all I have now is a $[....] paperweight.

Love it!
2009-11-05I got this 3D mouse specifically to use with Autodesk Inventor and Solidworks and it works great with both of them. Not only that, now that I'm used to navigating with it - I struggle whenever I don't have it, it is 100% more intuitive than the native navigation you have to battle with your 2D mouse. For anybody doing much 3D CAD work, you gotta get one!
I'm impressed with the quality look and feel of the unit and how well it stays put even when you pull vertically up on it. It took me about 10 minutes to get the drivers installed and the "feel" configured to my liking in both apps. Highly recommend this unit!

Core 2 Duo Scaling
Laptop Scaling
Intel's Core 2 Duo is easily the best mobile processor on the market today, boasting sky-high performance and low power consumption. But which CPU is for you: the super expensive T7600, the bargain-priced T5500, or something in between?
This article will first take a look at the various versions of Core 2 Duo that Intel has to offer. We will compare Core 2 Duo clocked at four speed grades: 2.33GHz, 2.16GHz, 2GHz, and 1.83GHz in a variety of benchmarks and let you know how to get your best bang for the buck.
Note: We will refer to a Core 2 Duo “T7000multiple times in this article. We were unable to get a Merom sample with 2MB L2 cache, thus we lowered the clock speed of our 4MB L2 model to 1.83GHz to perform near that of the T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache), resulting in our unofficial “T7000nomenclature.

The types of camcorders
If you are planning on purchasing a camcorder, you should be familiar with
the types of camcorders and how they can benefit your specific needs. The
formats of video cameras include, VHS, VHS-C,
8mm, Hi8, Mini Digital Video (Mini DV), DVD and Digital 8. Each format has
its pros and cons
VHS
The VHS format is the oldest type of camcorder. This type of video camcorder
is fast becoming outdated, because you can only play back
the video on a VHS VCR system. VHS
camcorders are not nearly as clear as digital
video camcorders that offer clear video with 540 lines of resolution,
VHS video cameras only offer 240 lines of resolution. They also weigh more
and are much more bulky, that dv camcorders. You can only find these video
camera used because their technology is now outdated.
VHS-C
The VHS-C format offer 240 lines of resolution, just like VHS. These analog
camcorders come in a smaller size that the VHS camcorder models, but use
the same technology. The video tapes u ...
