2010-03-20this game has great potential. the weapons are outstanding powerups all that stuff is good hacking shouldn't be to hard. finding all the diaries is the impossible part if ur a great gamer u should be able to do it. bioshock has it all. im not rating it a 5 because i think it is its because a good gamer should think so.

Great Shooter
2010-03-17I was never a big fan of shooters. I picked up this game because I heard so many good things about it and I wanted to try it out. I have to say I'm happy I got it. It's so much fun to walk around the city of Rapture not knowing what's around the next corner. The Big Daddy fights are a lot of fun. For someone who has never liked shooter games I'm gaining a brand new respect for them with this game. The story is great, which is what get's me into the game in the first place.

Perfect
2010-03-16I wanted to play Bioshock 2 and also love up it's online play, so I picked this up recently so that I could play the first one first. I always wondered what the hubbub was about, and I gotta say, DANG! Rarely have I played a game that accomplished so much. I can't see a single problem with this creative gem, so I'll keep it short and sweet. For shooter fans who love a great story, this is unique and out of this world. A perfect game in every way.

so-so
2010-03-14In the break between playing Fallout 3,NES games and Fallout 3 expansions I decided to play Bioshock. Before I played the game I was hoping it would be similar to Fallout 3. Sadly my expectations fell short. After that fell I was hoping it might be similar to System Shock. After the first five hours I found this to be false. Im not saying it wasn't good, it just wasn't as good as I had hoped. It had its moments such as fighting the Big Daddys. The villan and story also didn't quite cut it. Another thing is that the game was saidd to be scary, but never really was (to me).
Now for the good stuff. The game has some fun power ups to use called plasmids. They are great fun to experiment with and are used almost as much as guns. Also it covers most bases in weapons including a revolver, a grenade launcher, the slightly odd crossbow, and my favorite, the shotgun. Most of the weapons can be upgraded which makes them look like a sweet frekenstien gun. It also has a somewhat open world giving you some freedom. Lastly if nothing else it is a fun ride.
My final thoughts are that it was a let down to me because of most my friends and ads hyping it to be the spiritual sequal to system shock. If you lower your expectations you will be in for a enjoyable and thought provoking experience.

One great game not to be missed in your game library!
2010-03-10Before playing this game, I had no idea of the story I would get to encounter. In it, you play a survivor of a plane crash who also happens to find by some strange stroke of luck an underground city called Rapture lying deep down the Atlantic Ocean. The first minutes of the game are just simply amazing and frightening as you try to make sense of what is going on. One of the most frightening moment is when you enter and encounter face to face the founder of the city as he talks to you for the first time. Personally this was one of the many goosebumps I got. But the most frightening is in the surgery room when you look down at someone's body and then...
From the start, the atmosphere immerses you into the game, from the creepy fifties' music to the spooky and morbid lighting around this strange ghost town and the very impressive voice acting to the animation of the character's which are excellent. Loved the powers that you get during the game, especially the telekinesis and the one with the bees. Though you never are to sure of what your character really looks like, if you are very careful, just before you get to meet Atlas, the founder of Rapture, you get to see photos of you and learn also a shocking revelation.
Happy to see that the public responded well to this game, which was not the case for certain masterpieces like Beyond Good and Evil which got great reviews, but not enough attention from the public for it was released between prince of Persia, The sands of Time and another Tom Clancy's game whose name I forget. I am happy to see that the sequel Bioshock 2 is out and I hope it will be awesome.
