Stupid retracting lens!
2009-07-03I bought this camera a couple years ago... a friend of mine dropped it and the retracting lens slipped its gears and wouldnt work! I called the company and and after HOURS of irritation they said it was still under waranty and would send me a new one. They did so, but it seriously took alot of phone time and talking to customer service people who did not seem to understand english and wanted to call me at 4am to ask questions! I got my new camera 6 to 8 months ago and the lens is already acting stupid! (And it HASNT been dropped this time!) Its getting stuck open and wont close...or it closes and refuses to open again! I refuse to go through the hell I went through LAST time to replace it so I am in the market for a NEW digital camera...preferably one WITHOUT a retracting lens!
Its sad because I love the pictures it takes...the zoom is awesome.... its easy to use.... video is good.... but this lens issue is a BIG problem! When it wont open half the time to even TAKE a picture? it doesnt really matter how GOOD the pics are!

Nice camera, except
2009-04-17I like the camera, don't get me wrong. It does a nice job taking pictures, movies and has a lot of storage with the SM card. Very easy to use, nice large display. The bad, be careful when you open the compartment that holds the batteries and storage card. The clip that holds the flap down is made of soft cheap plastic and breaks very easy. I have to use packing tape now to hold it together It should have been made of metal. If you take a picture or movie and use the zoom control wait 3-4 seconds before you take the picture or your image will be out of focus. I found out the hard way and missed a shuttle launch now I have a clip that is out of focus. The wife hates that it does not have a view finder, you have to look at the display to see what you are shooting.

Batteries & Flash
2008-11-03Bought 2 of these & gave 1 to a friend - Had flash problems right away & dealt w/ H.P.Support 4 times - They claimed batteries were the problem each time!
After buying fresh rechargables locally twice w/ no improvement I got Sony batteries & it works perfect
A great camera @ a low price w/ superb tech support
Thank You

amazing little camera
2008-09-15A close friend purchased one of these cameras over a year ago (an older model than mine) and I was instantly amazed at how user friendly it was. My daughter was looking at digital cameras and I suggested the HP which after doing some research she purchased the HP MZ67. After playing around with hers I also bought one! The pictures are clear, it takes wonderful videos, has a nice large veiwing screen and the price is hard to beat. My friend is still using her older model as well with no complaints!

Totally useless outdoors
2008-08-31This is the first HP product we have ever regretted buying. This camera is totally useless outdoors in bright sunlight. You cannot see a thing on the LCD screen, even at its brightest setting, and the battery saving feature turns it off too soon while you are struggling to see the picture. Trying to use the zoom with a questionable live view is also impossible as you cannot find your target. The photos that do result appear to be OK, but you can't count on getting what you really wanted. We had to resort to our old HP Photosmart 935 camera on recent vacation - fortunately we took both along. Whoever decided that optical viewfinders should be eliminated is crazy. And, to not be able to recharge batteries without a dock is absurd while travelling. HP - rethink your line of cameras!

Driving with a cell phone is a lot less dangerous than driving on prescription drugs
There's a lot of debate today about the safety of using cell phones while driving. Statistics show that those who use cell phones while driving cause a much greater percentage of accidents than those who avoid using their cell phones. And the studies have shown that it's not just the physical coordination required to punch numbers into the cell phone while you're trying to work the vehicle that causes accidents; it's actually the lack of attention resulting from driving and talking on the cell phone at the same time. It seems that when you're distracted, you're more likely to cause accidents.
In terms of public safety, it's probably correct to say that banning cell phones would reduce the number of traffic accidents. But I think, more accurately, it depends on the person. Some people are operating on, shall we say, lower power CPUs in their heads to begin with. They might be zoned out on prescription drugs, and when you add a cell phone to the equation, they do become a danger to the ...
Audio & Video Connections Guide
" For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three." - Alice Kahn
This quote is certainly applicable to consumer electronics. From the very first commercially produced radios to the latest in high-definition television technology, the manner in which the components used to deliver our news, music, movies and entertainment are interconnected seems to have escaped logic. For both the newcomer and the old hand alike, connecting equipment in the most efficient and effective manner can be a painful chore. It is hoped this article will improve your background knowledge concerning potential A/V system connection schemes and where each is most appropriate. The next time you find yourself in a "connectivity quandary" perhaps the ideas shared here will help you to quickly solve the riddle of which wire goes where and why!
