Sony Cybershot DSCW120 7.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot (Silver)
Product Description:
The 7.2-Megapixel Cyber-shot(R) W120 features innovative Smile Shutter technology, which photographs smiles as they happen. A Carl Zeiss 4x optical zoom lens provides high quality close-ups, while Sony's Double Anti-Blur solution gives you crisp, clear images. The advanced Sony Super HAD(TM) (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. Because an off-center subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto focus measures the focus at 9 precision points instead of 5 giving you greater creative freedom to compose your image. The large, bright 2.5" TFT LCD display makes it easy to compose shots, check results, and read menus in sharp natural color, even in bright sunlight. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus, exposure, color, and flash to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminate harsh facial glare, so your photos bring out every expression on every face in every shot. Super SteadyShot(R) Image Stabilization compensates for shaky hands and minimizes blur with optical sensors that detect camera movement and send correcting signals to a stabilization lens. Aperture Range - Auto (F2.8-F14 with ND Filter) / Program Auto (F2.8-F14 with ND Filter) Shutter Speed - Auto (1/4 - 1/1,600) / Program Auto (1 - 1/1,600) Flash Modes - Auto, Forced On, Forced Off, and Slow Synch Movie Modes - MPEG VX Fine with Audio (640x480 at 30fps), MPEG VX Standard with Audio (640x480 at 16fps), Presentation (320 x 240 at 8fps) Scene Modes - Auto, Easy Shooting, Program Auto, Movie, High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, and Smile Shutter Operating System - Microsoft 2000 Professional, Me, XP Home and Professional, Macintosh OS 9.1, 9.2, OS X (10.0-10.4)

Why the price jump?
2009-06-18I bought this camera as a christmas gift and my cousin loves it. I guess I should have bought myself one hack then as well. Back then, it was only $109-119. Why has the price DOUBLED??!?!??

Blurry Pictures
2009-06-09We spent tons of time to replace our old Sony digital camera, which we bought in 2001. Our old Sony was one of the first 3MP digital camera. It took great pictures. It got a bit too big to carry around. After reading all the raving reviews, we bought this W120.
The pictures turn out to be horrible. Only one out of 10 turns out sharp and crisp, the rest are garbage. We just had our first child, so we thought this camera would allow us to capture a child who doesn't sit still. Yeah right. Most pictures came out blurry because the camera doesn't snap at the right time. We had to turn off all the special features to get better chance in capturing a useable picture.
The only pro is that this is a small camera. But what good is it if it can't take good pictures?

Great pocket camera
2009-06-03Specifically wanted a camera that would
1) fit in my pocket 2)have image stabilization 3) could take pictures, movies in a darkened environment.
Could not be happier with the Sony Cybershot DSCW120! My intent was to take the camera to a concert, and (hopefully) get pictures with the band. So, concealment (pocketsized) was an issue, as was blurring and dark environment. Pictures were a complete success. And the camera itself is extremely easy to use- point and shoot settings. So easy, even a lead singer can use it (to take my picture with the drummer).
Another fun feature is the smile shutter. In this setting, a picture is automatically taken when a subject smiles. Video quality is great (again, mainly used in concert setting), and battery lasts a long time, and is easily recharged.
I would completely recommend this camera.

Excellent!!
2009-05-20I've had it for a little less than a year and it's the best camera i've had ... hands down! I've had HP cameras before and there's NO comparison Great pictures, fast and easy download to computer, great zoom, good video! You can even use it to transfer data from one computer to another (like a memory stick)...

Satisfied with camera
2009-05-16As much as I'd like to be a talented photographer, I have collected cameras that are too much work to learn how to use and require more expertise than I'm willing to invest. This camera is easy to use, takes great pictures, is compact, and is a good buy!

Advantages Of The DV Camcorder
Introduction
The DV camcorder, or digital video camera, has many advantages to offer consumers. Camcorders have come a long way from even the analog camcorder. There are many benefits to using a digital video camera. Some of the advantages that may send you to the store for your own are its compactness, its quality of picture, and its versatility. You can use your digital video camera to transfer your VHS movies to digital tape. You may find that the technology is also much better with a digital video camera.
A camcorder derives its name from its ability to operate as both a camera and a recorder. This electronic piece of equipment has been used by countless families to record baby's first steps, birthday parties, weddings, graduations, etc. These recordings of sights and sounds have provided many hours of family entertainment as well as amusement to television audiences through the capturing of hilarious antics.
Camcorders have evolved over the years. The evolving of camcorders ...
Digital cameras are good for the environment
As we consider the digital camera revolution that has taken place over the last decade, most people think about it in terms of enhanced benefits for consumers. We can take a lot more pictures at much lower cost with digital cameras versus film cameras. We can also more easily manipulate and share those photos since they're all in the digital realm.
But one thing many people don't think about actually deserves mention as potentially the most profound effect of the digital camera revolution: how digital cameras greatly reduce the destructive impact on the environment compared to film cameras.
At first, you might think, "How can that be? My film camera didn't harm the environment!" Even though it wasn't your camera that harmed the environment, your film processing did indeed harm it. Any time you take your pictures to a photo processing center, that film is run through batches of chemicals. These chemicals are environmental hazards, and once they are used to process film, those chem ...
