Great travel stroller
2008-11-02I just bought our second Maclaren Volo after an airline lost our first. It is an excellent lightweight stroller that works very well, folds easily, and is perfect for travel. It is comfortable to push for both my 5'4" self and my 6' tall husband. We also have a Bob Revolution that I use for long walks, going to the park, etc. But the Maclaren Volo is the stroller we grab for shopping trips, going to restaurants, anywhere we may be needing a stroller that is easily folded and stowed away. If I lost this one, I'd buy it again.

Durable Travel Buddy
2008-10-25The stroller is perfect for travel. I bought it for our recent trip to Orlando, FL. A brand new stroller put to the test. From airport to airport, Disney parks, strolling around town and to the beach. It's superb maneuverability is impressive. My 4 yr old son loved riding in it. It is so easy to fold and stow in the car and very light to carry to lug anywhere. I'm not a complainer but I will say the only thing I wish this stroller had was a reclining back in case the sleepy toddler wants to nap in it comfortably. But you can't have it all. Just make sure you know what's important and practical for you and your toddler. Have lots of fun!

My son hates this stroller...
2008-09-17I bought this stroller to keep in the car and use when traveling. We recently took a trip to Europe and brought this stroller along because it is light and small. It was terrible. Because the seat doesn't recline, smaller children are extremely uncomfortable. Additionally, though it says that it works for smaller children, the way they've made the shoulder straps, it is nearly impossible to get them to fit a small baby (my son is a large 8 month old). We had to do a work around to get the straps short enough to hold him in and then they cut into his neck. When he fell asleep in it, his head would fall forward and he looked incredibly uncomfortable. Because it was so uncomfortable, we had to wrestle with him to get him in it and most of the time decided to just carry him instead.
In short, don't make the same mistake that we did. Buy the next model up and then you won't have to buy a second after you're disappointed with this model. It's cheaper to spend the money on the front end.

A Must Have!!!
2008-08-22This stroller is one of the lightest strollers that I've found. It's very easy to manuever. Perfect for traveling. We just returned from Disney World and it was convenient to have as we had to fly there and use Disney's transportation; it folds very quickly and it was a breeze getting through the parks. Nice stroller to have when on the go. My toddler seemed to like it too and had no problems napping in it. And the rain shield was a plus!!!

Everything we wanted in a stroller
2008-08-11We bought our Volo (admittedly, not this color) about a year and a half ago, when our daughter began to outgrow her "baby" strollers. My husband and I are both tall, so we wanted something that we wouldn't have to hunch over, and we saw that users rated the Volo as lightweight and durable. We bought it and used it--and used it, and used it. This summer, we took our daughter (now 3) to Europe and we were amazed at how well the Volo held up -- we visited seven countries, stayed at a dozen hotels, and took over a dozen flights, and the Volo made it through everything with flying colors. It was amazingly convenient and sturdy. We will definitely recommend it to anyone who asks!

A Good Birth, A Safe Birth: choosing and having the childbirth experience you want
Eight years ago, when the first edition of this book was published, we told you that the two trends in childbirth were moving in opposing directions. They still are. One trend is the growing number of hospitals providing homelike accommodations, including Jacuzzis and microwaves, plus the more than 140 out-of-hospital birth centers (with more than 40 in the works), which numbered in the dozens only a few years ago.
The other trend is high-tech childbirth. We've had routine IVs, labor induction, and cesareans for years. Now there's a growing emphasis on tests and procedures of all kinds. It starts early in many parts of the country, with pregnant women of all ages being encouraged to undergo prenatal testing. It continues with the use of the electronic fetal monitor (EFM) during labor for 75 percent of women (and before labor for some), as well as the ubiquitous ultrasound offered routinely in at least three ...
Guidelines For The Nursing Mother
SINCE THE BEGINNING OF HUMANKIND, WOMEN HAVE PUT THEIR INFANTS TO BREAST.. Extending the physical bond that begins at conception, they have nourished and protected their young with their bodies. These tender moments, in return, have brought pleasure and fulfillment to the task of mothering. If you are now pregnant, you are probably looking forward to the time in which you will nourish, comfort, and protect your child in the same way as others before you--at the breast.
Perhaps you already feel committed to the idea of nursing. For you, there is no question that you'll breastfeed your baby. Or perhaps, like many women, you have some uncertainties, but still feel it's worth a try. Your outlook depends on many things--the value you place on breastfeeding, how your partner feels about it, how your friends have fed their babies, your lifestyle, your feelings about yourself and your body.
You probably also have som ...
