Stay away from HP2008-11-14
At first I thought the 6480 was great.....until it started having problems. Clearing the fax logs was finally accomplished, but in the process, the ink levels were not longer available by any method.....i suspect as a result of an unnecessary firmware upgrade they had me do. More than 60 emails, a dozen phone calls and several weeks later I am still waiting for customer service to send me the replacement machine that they promised. I supplied call times & days as they requested, but so far they have only called when I am sleeping or away from the phone, but never at the time/s stated on their info requests. Paper feed problems also visit often, but mainly support is dreadful and unacceptable I will never buy another HP anything.
See HP Website for help in connecting to router2008-11-12
I have been using my wireless router for a few years now so that was already in place. I found on HP's website a slideshow showing how to connect a wireless printer to a router http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/cache/606869-0-0-225-121.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

The slideshow is great and was the first step I did. Then I downloaded the full software install from HP to a flash drive and installed it on the wired computer first and then the wireless computers (all my computers are XP). The printer works great and really was no problem at all setting up.
Good WiFi Printer! Get XL Print Cartridges!2008-11-01
Performance of this printer has been excellent. I am using it on my wireless network at home without a problem. I am using a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router and connecting both a PC & iMac. Both computers were easily installed and have been working well for both printing and scanning. Download the latest software from the HP sight. Use the minimum install configuration.

Two-sided printing has not been problematic. The printer does drink color ink very quickly especially if you are doing color printing, so I recommend buying the extra large print cartridges, HP 75XL Tri-color Inkjet Print Cartridge & HP 74XL Black Inkjet Print Cartridge.

What a headache2008-10-30
Read many of the previous reviews, had some of the same problems. I have a Windows XP desktop and 2 Vista laptops. Installed the desktop first, using the disc. Set this printer as my default & everything seemed to work fine. Moved on to the my first laptop--did not use the disc, went online for the drivers and my laptop worked fine, nice quality prints. Went on to the second laptop & repeated the process, very slow but worked fine. After that, my desktop started printing half sheets, top line only, garbled prints, you name it. Same problems as others have had. Deleted all from my desktop, laptops still work flawlessly. Reloaded software to my desktop, seemed to work. About a half hour later, my desktop says "printer disconnected'. The printer cannot "see' the computer in order to scan, but I can still copy from all 3 machines. At this point, by the clock, I've spent about 12 hours over 3 days working on this crappy software. Another day & I'll maybe I'll send it back. Strangely, my Vista units work fine--it's the desktop with windows XP giving me the trouble. BAD software--only consider this printer if you're very patient.
Part Great, Part Mediocre and Always Slow2008-10-28
I purchase this product for my home office where I do quite a bit of business that involves all three functions of this all-in-one. There are some great pros, but DO NOT neglect the cons as they are enough to make me reconsider a new printer all together.

PROS

-"Set it and forget it copy, scan and fax functions" Meaning that unlike other all-in-ones, this product allows you to leave the items you want to copy, scan or fax in the feeder and it will take care of the rest. I realize that this feature is standard with most copy and fax machines, but it's not always available for the scanning function on other machines, and if you need to do multiple page scans it will really make your life easier.

-Wireless reduces clutter

CONS!

-THIS MACHINE PERFORMS ALL FUNCTIONS IN AN EXTREMELY SLOW MANNER, EVEN IF YOU HAVE QUALITY SET TO LOW RESOLUTIONS. Even vital, simple functions, such as copying go slowly on this device as opposed to many all-in-ones that are considered inferior to this machine. I cannot stress enough how bad this part of the machine is, so if you are looking for speed and efficiency, you might want to look elsewhere.
