Good picture quality, extremely slow channel switching2008-12-02
I read about the slow channel switching from early review comments but I thought it will not be so bad. This turns out to be a major flaw. From the time you press the channel number, it takes about 2-3 seconds to start the switching (the screen goes blank) and then another 2-3 seconds to latch on to the next channel. If you like to switch between channels, DO NOT BUY THIS TV.

The picture quality is very good, and it is very convenient to have the DVD player integrated. It is light weight and looks decent.
Solid value for the Price2008-11-25
Very pleased with the unit. Exceeded expectations. Digital tuner picked up station that I never knew were available off our cable system. Picture quality is outstanding. Audio is good for a unit this size. Light weight, easy to handle and move around. Setup was very simple. Changing channels takes a few more seconds than what I am use to. You won't be disappointed.
WARNING: TOSHIBA KILLED SANTA FOR MY KID2008-11-18
NOTE: this is a general review about dealing with Toshiba's customer service center and their return policy. Should you have anything go wrong with your tv, this is what you can expect....

We bought a TV/DVD combo from Toshiba as a gift from Santa last year for my 8-year old so that she could watch her Full House and Lizzie McGuire movies on it in her bedroom. Unfortunately, after 4 months, the tv's picture stopped working. She told me to send it back to Santa, so off it went to our local authorized Toshiba repairman, as you cannot return these items to Amazon after a certain period of time. We were told by Toshiba that the tv was under full warranty for parts and service. The repairman said no. We would have to pay at least $80 in service repairs. Well, it's been six months and we have yet to see our tv. The part that was supposedly broken was out of stock. Toshiba has sent out part after part after part...spending more in shipping and parts I'm sure than we actually paid for the tv. Now they are shipping out their 4th part...and we still have no tv and it's November. NOTE: the Toshiba representatives were rude and their supervisor (Dave Thomson) was scripted and condescending. TOSHIBA DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AND DOES NOT HELP ITS CUSTOMERS.

My daughter got so upset that Santa didn't return her tv that we had to buy her another tv a few months ago. Then, she overheard one of the numerous heated discussions between my husband and Toshiba. Every time my husband called, we were told the issue would be "escalated". The representatives are scripted and said whatever they could to passify us. In the end, we were told by Toshiba's supervisor (Dave Thomson) that this was their final decision...to just continue to keep trying to fix an inferior product with no hope that it may get fixed. By the time we get the tv back, if we get it back, it will no longer be under warranty.

In the end, with no return of her original tv and the numerous phone calls to/from Toshiba, my daughter finally got the clue and realized Santa doesn't exist. Thanks Toshiba. MAY NO PARENT EVER RELY ON YOUR PRODUCT AGAIN! THE TECHNOLOGY IS LOUSY AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT! GIVEN HOW TIGHT CONSUMERS' WALLETS ARE THIS SEASON, I HOPE PEOPLE LOOK PASSED YOUR BRAND AND SELECT A BETTER CHOICE.

FYI...When we purchased the tv, it was not made clear to us that it would be outdated within 14 months with the switch to digital.

Happy Holidays from a very dissatisfied customer.
2.5 stars for the second $500 lemon2008-11-16
due to a space concern in the bedroom we bypassed a regza and went with this 22" tv. The first one we got was incredibly defective. It turned itself on in the middle of hte night multiple times with no provocation. Then when watching broadcast channels in digital, the sound was wont to cut out for minutes at a time. Then one of our local channels, channel 3, was changed in the toshiba memory ( by itself ) to channel 50, and now when we try to navigate from channel 3 to the next channel, it jumps to channel 57! so the channels were all mixed up. my father went back to the store and they told him that hte tv's in the store all do that !

but we tried another unit of this same tv, hoping that this one was just unusually defective. no such luck. this one also has major problems with the sound where it cuts out for minutes at a time. imagine if it were after february 2009, and you could not switch back to the analog! you would lose minutes of dialogue for your favorite program! i cannot believe no one else has had any problem with this, but maybe it is due to the fact that they have cable tv and not antenna like we do.

the channels are slow to change, but you'll be lucky if thats your only problem with this tv. The sound cutting out is such a shame because the toshiba has better sound than any other brand of LCDs BY FAR. my recommendation is to get what i have in my bedroom a 32" toshiba regza 720/1080i. its a great tv. you wont be disappointed ( and comes from amazon for a nice price )

Digital cameras are good for the environment
As we consider the digital camera revolution that has taken place over the last decade, most people think about it in terms of enhanced benefits for consumers. We can take a lot more pictures at much lower cost with digital cameras versus film cameras. We can also more easily manipulate and share those photos since they're all in the digital realm. But one thing many people don't think about actually deserves mention as potentially the most profound effect of the digital camera revolution: how digital cameras greatly reduce the destructive impact on the environment compared to film cameras. At first, you might think, "How can that be? My film camera didn't harm the environment!" Even though it wasn't your camera that harmed the environment, your film processing did indeed harm it. Any time you take your pictures to a photo processing center, that film is run through batches of chemicals. These chemicals are environmental hazards, and once they are used to process film, those chem ...
