Good router but does not work with Grandstream HandyTone-286 VOIP
2008-12-05I've had this router for 3 weeks and have it loaded. It set up quite easily with the provided GUI and I was able to used the advanced mode to set some things not available from the simple GIU.
This router is currently handling these devices in my house:
1 PC desktop hardwired (Win XP)
1 Network Hard Drive hardwired
1 Grandstream HandyTone-286 VOIP hardwired
1 Linksys Skype VOIP phone hardwired
3 wireless laptops (2 XP, 1 Vista)
1 playstation 3 wireless
All wireless are set to WPA2 personal for maximum security
I have no signal issues in my 1450 sq foot home.
The included software creates a nice map of all my attached and wireless units and it also allows me to go into advanced mode so I can get to the router directly, bypassing the fancy GUI.
The only issue I have is my previous WRT54G (that died after 2 years) worked fine with my Granstream VOIP but I can't get this one to work with it.
In my case I liked the WRT54G better because the lights were on the front. The location of my router in my computer cabinet doesn't allow me to see the lights on this unit.
While I'm not having issues with signal strength I would be happy to have antennas if that would help. Looks aren't more important than function.
One feature I really like in this WRT54G2 is I can restrict my young son's laptop from gaining access to the internet altogether, or set hours or days that he can access the internet. Otherwise he can use the home LAN to print, even when restricted from the internet. Cool!

Very Poor Range; Easy to Set Up
2008-12-03I would have given it one star solely due to its lackluster range, but the unit does look sharp and the ease of setup was wonderful.
PROS: It is very easy to set up; the whole process took less than 5 minutes and was completely automated. The last router I set up took over an hour of fiddling and re-setting.
CONS: very low range! I have a 2600 sq ft home and the router is in a downstairs office. The signal gets lost two rooms away, which is surprising and very disappointing.
I liked this router when I set it up but now I intend to return it as its range is so extremely limited. I did a quick search online to find out if I could purchase something to extend it but after 30+ minutes gave up on that idea.
This device would only be useful for small apartments and situations where the wireless devices were within maybe 15-20 feet of the unit.

Easy to configure
2008-12-02This router is very easy to configure, most certainly for someone who has configured a Cisco router before. Basic settings are the same and are also configured in the same way as for other wireless Cisco routers.
I used this router to replace an old Wireless B router and wireless is a lot more robust and faster (both for Windows and using Linux).
Value for money is very good for this product.

Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Router
2008-11-30After purchasing a Macbook, this was a replacement for a Linksys wired router I was using. Easiest installation and set up of any router I've used to date. I bought it within the last 90 days, so I can not comment yet on how long it will last. However, I have had better luck with Linksys than with other routers I've used in the past (I've had bad experiences with Belkin and Netgear products in the past). The range on this seems only a little better than other wireless routers I've used in the past. I live in a ranch style house, and due to interference only about half the house is within range of the wireless signal.

Easy setup, short range
2008-11-28All the reviews that talk about the ease of use are entirely on the money. My problem came with the range of the device. It had issues even keeping a strong signal for 50ft. I was worried it had to do with the materials in our walls, but a TRENDnet device came in a did the job.

Why You Should Use A Mini DV Camcorder
Introduction
The mini DV camcorder has many advantages to offer its users. If you enjoy your digital video camera you will also enjoy this. The mini DV camcorder is easier to take with you than the regular sized cameras such as the hi definition camcorder, or the hi-Res camcorder. The size of this camcorder is one of its big advantages. The features this camcorder can offer are also great. Some cameras offer more features than others, so make sure that the camera has the features you want.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Generally when design, performance and technological improvements are made on electronic products there is a reduction in size as well to make them more compact.
For example the early day radios were built in large cabinets and required radio vacuum tubes. Eventually, transistor radios were constructed and were more portable. Today, a radio can be as small as a wristwatch.
Camcorders have also evolved in tec ...
Digital cameras are good for the environment
As we consider the digital camera revolution that has taken place over the last decade, most people think about it in terms of enhanced benefits for consumers. We can take a lot more pictures at much lower cost with digital cameras versus film cameras. We can also more easily manipulate and share those photos since they're all in the digital realm.
But one thing many people don't think about actually deserves mention as potentially the most profound effect of the digital camera revolution: how digital cameras greatly reduce the destructive impact on the environment compared to film cameras.
At first, you might think, "How can that be? My film camera didn't harm the environment!" Even though it wasn't your camera that harmed the environment, your film processing did indeed harm it. Any time you take your pictures to a photo processing center, that film is run through batches of chemicals. These chemicals are environmental hazards, and once they are used to process film, those chem ...
