Very Good Basic Machine
2008-11-11Pros: Reasonable price; bright, sharp display; 4 USB ports; accepts all the common memory cards; nicely sized, functional keyboard; power brick is smaller than average.
Cons: Heavy; only came with 1GB of memory (but easily upgradeable to 2GB by user for around $40); built-in speakers are crappy.

2008-10-07This is an incredible piece of equipment. It is very very versatile, reliable and economically priced. I would recommend it to persons doing research and teaching. It also has the capacity to provide good entertainment. It makes a good companion and good buying choice for starters.

A very BAD choice
2008-09-20this is a conversation that took place in an authorized toshiba shipping store:
me: "Man..let me tell you something... NEVER buy a Toshiba laptop."
clerk: "With the ammount of them that we ship back every month, I never would."
..just in case you were wondering how many exactly the UPS receives from customer and ships out for repair every month - "..about 30" is the answer I got

2008-08-25My first lap top and so far so good. A lot more bells and whistles than my desk top but they are all to the good. I am a novice in the computer world but I am able to do all I want with this.
