No Idea how people could give low reveiws2009-06-23
This camcorder, after waiting a long and hard 5 months of allowance, easter and st. patricks day, I finally got it. Totally worth it! I know the zoom could be a sketchy, but takes great videos, and I never run out of time on the cam corder. I love how you can keep the camcorder on for 4 hours and it won't run out of batteries. I've trusted this camcorder to take perfect video in:
London
Paris
Rome
Tuscany
Germany
And a whole bunch of other places that have fantastic landmarks! The only thing I wish could get better would be to make the screen a tad bit larger, and to make it a little less scratchable. I didn't know you had to keep it in the cover it comes with to put it in your pocket. It could get annoying trying to put it in.
I'm thinking of getting the new chrome HD camcorder for $200.00 to maybe upgrade the flaws with this version.

I hope my review was helpful.
Piece of junk2009-06-23
I got this camera for my birthday just 3 days ago. I opened it today for the first time, charged it, updated the software and took 3 videos that were all less than a minute each. A few hours later I went to load them on my computer and play with the software, and I get nothing. My computer doesn't recognize the camera and it won't turn on at all. This device worked for less than 1 hour out of the box brand new. I definately should have read the reviews before I opened it, because many people seem to be having the same problem. Hopefully Amazon will refund the money. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Bought this for a wedding present. They seem to like it because it is very easy to use. Downloading is simple.
Great but a devastating problem to be aware of2009-06-05
I've had this for 5 weeks and it's been great fun. It was easy to use out of the box and connect to my computer. I trimmed the videos and made one larger video with titles and such. But the first big event came and I had a problem. I interviewed people at the family reunion. When I went to transfer the videos to my machine I manage to transfer 1 and delete the other 9. Now I'm not saying there wasn't user error involved. I thought I knew how to do it and wasn't reading the prompts carefully, BUT (1) there is no undo, when they are deleted that's it even if the camera is still plugged in, even searching through camera directories like a hard drive all that was there was the JPG thumbnails of what I used to have, (2) WHY would I want to transfer one and delete the rest?? I was just working with one at a time so I could watch them, name them something helpful, note what needed to be trimmed then move to the next video. I guess the intention is you transfer them all then change filenames later.
It's been 2 weeks and I just look at the camera and want to puke. Their tech support has been responsive, but I have no videos. I wish the story had a happy ending, I haven't told the family yet.

Camera basics: shutter-speed, aperture and ISO
In this article, I’ll introduce you to the basic elements that you can use to control exposure in your shooting. If you have a digital SLR, there will be a way to set all of these controls on your camera, but since they differ between manufacturers and models, you’ll need to refer to your camera’s manual to find out exactly how to change them. All cameras, whether an ancient film camera, or a more modern digital, work in pretty much the same way. Photographs are taken by letting light fall onto a light-sensitive medium, which records the image. Traditionally, this has been film, but more recently, it tends to be a digital sensor. The more light that falls onto the film or sensor, the lighter the image. Put simply, a camera consists of a light-tight box that stores a light-sensitive device (either a film or a digital sensor), a lens that magnifies and focuses the image onto that light-sensitive device through a hole in the box (called the aperture) , and a shutter that opens ...
