Useful Camera Kit2009-03-23
This is a very useful little kit for a good price. My only complaint has to do with myself - I didn't need these things. I bought another case, a hard-shell, so don't use the case included in the kit. However, the one in the kit fit the camera perfectly and is well padded - just not needed by me. The extra battery comes in handy, but I could have bought that separately. The flash card? I don't think I'll ever use up the one that came in the camera, let alone three I ended up with (including the one in the kit). I don't know if or when I'll use the other items, but if I ever need them, by golly, I've got'em. It is a great kit, but only buy it if you'll use the stuff. Otherwise, a waste of resources (unless you're deeply dedicated to helping jump-start the economy).
Casio Exilim 8 Mp digital camera. A pocket size marvel. Good videos too!2008-06-09
The Exilim is much better than I expected. I was worried that such a small lens just would not capture the details. It does. The size is amazing. The pictures are better than those of the Canon S1 we purchased couple of years ago. We are very happy with the S1, but the Exilim is just great. I travel a lot, and I really needed a pocket size camera, I was ready to sacrifice picture quality for size, but I did not need to.
It is very simple to use. Also, it will focus to very close range automatically, no need to push on that tulip button. One annoying thing is this graph, it seems to turn on with some combination of keys. I still have to figure out how to turn it off. Turned it off once, but I do not know how I did that. It came back. Guess I need to open the instruction manual. The videos are really good quality too. They are MOV files, if you use window, you will need to download and install the free Quick-Time from Apple for it. Not a big deal.
The rest of the kit is a great value. 4 GB SD card is a must. The JPG files are about 2MB each. Goes right into the card reader of my computer too. No need for cable or things. The extra battery is nice - if I do not forget to take it along - but the camera seems to take several dozen pitures on one charge, so not much of a problem there either. The kit includes a USB card reader, nice for computer that are not so recent like my desktop.
I cannot see how anyone could be anything else than thrilled with this purchase.
