Good choice... I am happy with this product, excelent!!
2008-10-18I am very pleased with my HP laptop, as well as Amazon.com's service.
The laptop is very powerful and handles Vista with no issues. The computer boots quickly and connection to my network and the internet was simple... the performance is good.. the heating is not that much.
It is smaller and lighter than my previous laptop.. This laptop even has a switch in the front to turn off the wireless in case you're in an area that you do not want to chance someone accessing your computer or to just save on battery power. The battery time is OK.
The colors and outside design are Ok, but the plastic shiny material is a fingerprints magnet. I recommend this product!!

Great laptop for the price
2008-09-28This is a terrific laptop. It's fast, nice sized hard drive, and the screen looks amazing. The exterior finish is sleek. The laptop feels pretty light.
Start-up into the OS is blazing fast. Windows Vista-64 is great. My Desktop had Vista Ultimate 32 on it, so I was already a fan.
The only complaint I have is that the lower right side of the keyboard, from the enter key down through the arrows, feels hollow or loose underneath. I think it's because the DVD tray is below that area of the keyboard. I don't think that it's a defective keyboard, I think it's a design issue.
All in all I think this is a great laptop. This is my first AMP laptop system and I must say it is just as fast as my Core2Duo E6600 Desktop was.

HP Pavilion dv2000 Special Edition
2008-09-16I purchased the dv2000 from BestBuy for 699.99$. For the price it gives you the most bang for your buck. This notebook has 4gb of memory, massive 320gb hardrive space, and amd's dual core Turion X2 processor rated at 2.00Ghz. Nividia provides excellent graphics for a notebook of this price. The only downside is battery life and even that isn't too bad for the moderate user. This notebook is a definate must if your on a limited budget but you don't want to sacrifice performance. I've had absolutely no issues with this notebook and it compares favorably to my previous Toshiba. Excellent product, a must buy.

Overall great computer with excellent features
2008-09-07I don't know how this laptop can be reviewed poorly. For one thing it is amazing on paper with 4 gigs ram and 320 gigs storage, and it really delivers on speed and performance. The battery life isn't the best, but at school or starbucks there should be outlets anyways. It is also a very nice looking laptop with all the best features. It has a very nice media center with attractive, backlit, touch sensitive buttons at the top. This even has a remote with convenient storage inside the laptop. It also works very well in terms of range and registering all clicks. When watching movies or listening to music the speakers sound very impressive for a laptop because it's altec lansing. I don't even need to hook it up to my standalone speakers. The keyboard isn't the best I've seen but it has a nice firmness to it and does what it should. Also it's nice how the ctrl key is in the corner and fn is moved to the right because that is what I'm used to from desktop keyboards. One of my only complaints is that the mousepad (I forget what it's actually called) is a little grabby, but mostly it works fine. I also like how it can be turned on and off with a dedicated button. The only other thing that I'm sort of disappointed with is the quality of the webcam; however, most other laptops in the price range have the same quality anyways. I will be using this laptop for years to come and I'm confident it will last because it has excellent, sturdy build quality from a trusted name brand, hp.

HP dv2940se
2008-08-17I bought this laptop about a week ago, and I've got to say, it's a well rounded machine. Graphics are on par for what you're paying for (I got mine at Office Depot for $750), and this being my first experience with vista, I got to say, its not as bad as I thought. Back to the graphics, this isn't an Alienware, that said, I installed DOOM 3 and it did well, aside from some anti-aliasing hiccups and slow-downs during extreme high action. One thing you should definitely take note of is battery life. I bought this PC for school, and there are days where it just makes it through the day without plugging in. Definitely bring an AC adapter if you'll be moving around a lot. The laptop overall is light weight, and can be used comfortably on your lap, although the battery does get hot at times. I give this laptop a 3 out of 5.

Digital camera batteries
Batteries are vital for all photography and makiing sure that you have a spare set is essential if you intend to take alot of pictures. Print digital also recommend that when deciding upon a digital camera keep in mind what sort of batteries it takes. Does it take rechargeable batteries, are the batteries built and do you have to plug it into the mains, or does the camera only take standard batteries, if so then it can become exspensive if you are a keen photographer and use the camera alot.
There are three types of rechargeable batteries: NiCD, NiMH and Lithium-Ion. Nickel Metal Hydride are the most popular rechargeable batteries at present. They hold more charge than their counter parts NiCD and don't suffer from memory effect. The one small down fall of these batteries is that they will loose a small amount of charge even if they are not being used, so be sure to check the batteries before using them.
When you purchase a new digital camera make sure to ask what type of battery ...
