Product Description:

The new Samsung TL34HD is a powerful, sleek and compact digital camera featuring high-definition video capability. TL34HD boasts an impressive resolution of 14.7 megapixels and renowned Schneider lens yielding a 28mm wide-angle focal length with 3.6x optical zoom. The most advanced point and-shoot digital camera in Samsungs history, the TL34HD builds upon the success of its predecessor, the NV24HD, taking many of that cameras advanced features to a whole new level. Featuring an all-metal build, the TL34HD is pocket-sized but features a large, 3-inch touch-screen LCD screen that dominates the back of the camera and is sure to turn heads no matter where the TL34HD may be used. The TL34HD can also record video in 720p high-definition resolution, at a maximum frame rate of 30fps. Shooters can also take advantage of a movie stabilizer and optical zoom while recording video, as well as Samsungs Successive Recording mode, which allows the user to pause and then resume filming without having to save the clips as individual files. Additionally, the TL34HD utilizes H.264 compression, a codec for high-definition video that yields three times the recording length of MPEG4.

Decent isn't good enough for 250$2009-05-18
Long story short I'm returning this camera and I wish I'd have listened to the dissenters on here. The mixed reviews this camera is getting on other sites is totally warranted. The image quality is just sub-par. The features are awesome, the screen is excellent (better than on other comparable models I looked at like Sony's Cybershot series), and I even found the common complaint of the complicated menu system to not be so bad. But the bottom line is that even on the highest quality setting with the lowest ISO setting the grain is out of control. It's ridiculous. My four year old Canon S70 took better looking pictures and that's just inexcusable. Touch screen, hd-video capability...it doesn't mean anything is the photo quality isn't there.
Its a great Camera for the price2009-05-01
Well, I own this Camera for almost 1 month now. The Samsung TL34HD is considered a great camera for the price. While it has its positives, but it does have its flaws. Such as the location of the flash, the design and the blurry pictures on some preset shooting mods.

In general, if you can afford to get extra bucks, I would rather choosing another brand that has better reviews. However, the Samsung TL34HD is one of the top. 14.7mp with great picture quality for such a price.

Good luck in your Camera purchase journey :)
Great camera2009-03-26
the usability of this camera is great. With touch screen, you can quickly and easily change settings without worrying about missing those great shots. The picture is outstanding and capable of very large formats. I'd say the biggest downer with this camera is that it's a bit fragile. Other than that, it's a great investment product.
Great product for the most part.2009-02-27
I have never been a Samsung consumer. I always used Canon, Olympus, and Nikon. Recently Samsung has been doing one thing right, they are releasing more reliable and more feature packed items.

You will notice in the front it has a 3.7x zoom lens that telescopes out of the body in two sections. In the front of the camera you will also notice it has a AF assist light, and the remote control sensor...

My favorite feature is on the back of the camera. It's a 3 inch LCD touch screen. Because the camera has a touch screen most of the configuration is done via the touch-screen menus. The screen refresh is fairly fast, and the sensitivity is very good. The only thing the camera lags on is when you are moving the picture around in the preview mode. The `flicking' from one picture to another is a bit choppy and sometimes has to be repeated more then once (It's no Iphone).

One advantage is the flash pops up from the top of the camera. (When and if needed). One disadvantage of the above mentioned feature is most people hold the camera from the sides (top to bottom) and their fingers would prevent the lens from opening up.

A nice feature for those on the go is the power cable that can be plugged into your laptop USB port for quick recharges, or on the USB printer port for quick printing.

For a camera I have to acknowledge the solid video quality, but I also have to mention the built-in mic is not the best in the world.

End results:

Pros:

* Fine images in good light
* Solid 720p videos with zooming capability
* Excellent touch screen menu

Cons:

* High rez photos require bright light
* Slow processing of pictures with some features (ex. Beauty shot Blink detection)
* Built-in mic has poor quality
Very pleased so far2009-02-24
I have only had the camera for a week but am very pleased with picture quality. We bought it as a camera the entire family can use and the auto feature is great for anyone who wants to shoot a picture. We bought it primarily for the video (pause) feature and we are very happy to have that in a small pocket camera. The only negative is I like putting the camera in my pocket and it has come on and worn down the battery because the camera powers up when you push a little button on the back. Samsung should change this.
