Great camera for the price!
2010-03-21I went from a Canon A-1 to this, and haven't looked back! The greatest feature of this camera: It's fun to use! I guess this is a common feature to all digital cameras. You are able to see your picture right away, and make exposure corrections as needed for that perfect picture. This encourages you to take more pictures, and instantly learn from your mistakes. I am not a professional photographer, but for my money, this camera is hard to beat. I still keep my trusty A-1 at home, but this Rebel XS is the one that I'm driving around town with these days.
Great Way to Get Started
2010-02-24I bought a Rebel XS in transition from film to digital photography. It is a great way for beginners and advanced users to enter the digital realm. It takes decent pictures with the included kit lens and is very easy to use. It has a ton of features and prepared me to step up to the semi-professional 7D a few months later.
Great DSLR for starters
2010-02-23Great DLSR for starters in photography. Great image quality, great battery life, the controls are all so easy to use. The only thing is that the max ISO speed is 1600, I personally think it could be more, maybe 3200....
Other than that, the Rebel XS is the perfect DSLR for me.
Great Entry Camera from someone that wants more than a Point and Shoot
2010-02-18I bought this camera a year ago from Amazon and have absolutely loved using it. I was able to learn a lot about the creativity modes on this camera but for those of you that don't have a big interest in learning this, if still comes with the different auto settings that all Point and Shoot cameras come with. I think that this would be a great gift for someone that is wanting to learn photography without a huge price tag. Then they can always upgrade later on if and when they out grow this one. Canon's Rebel line has been pretty awesome on adding features that the prosumer's cameras have but without the big price tag. So save yourself a little money and get a great camera!
Great camera, great value
2010-02-18This is one great camera! You will not find a better SLR camera for the money. I just started playing in the world of SLR's and what a great camera to start learning on. I've already had many people who have seen my photographs tell me that they look like they were shot by a professional. This camera was also shipped to me really fast and I could not find it cheaper anywhere else!

Batteries are vital for all photography and makiing sure that you have a spare set is essential if you intend to take alot of pictures. There are three types of rechargeable batteries: NiCD, NiMH and Lithium-Ion. Nickel Metal Hydride are the most popular rechargeable batteries at present. They hold more charge than their counter parts NiCD and don't suffer from memory effect. The one small down fall of these batteries is that they will loose a small amount of charge even if they are not being used, so be sure to check the batteries before using them.
