Roxio Creator 2009 [OLD VERSION]

After using Easy Media Creator 7.5 on Windows XP for years, had to upgrade with purchase of new 64 bit computer w/ Vista. Read alot of the mostly negative/scary reviews for the current Roxio products (and the equally scary reviews for Nero) and decided to go with the less than current Roxio EMC 10 [under the theory that fewer bells & whistle options that I would not use would make for a "simpler" product with less chance of screwing up.]

I found NO problems with loading this up [after starting the setting up process by answering a couple of questions, just walk away from your computer for 20 minutes. When I came back, it was loaded and ready to go!] I have so far only used EMC 10 for music functions, so I can't comment on video/DVD performance. I have loaded up some LP and cassette music, cleaned, edited, modified and burned results to CD. Have also successfully loaded, edited and burned music that I transfered from my old computer that was saved by EMC 7.5 (under WAV format). Everything has gone smoothly. The only glitches so far is that in Sound Editor, you can start using it and during the first 45 seconds it will bomb out (you get a Windows problem message that "asks" you to close the function.) Then, I just click it back on and it works fine. In the 50 man hours I've been using this, I've lost maybe 4 minutes.

Being someone who is old enough to remember copying LP's to cassettes, what this software allows you to do is amazing. I believe that the software must be complicated, and that little glitches are currently part of the deal. Hope this review was helpful.

This software is a piece of junk. I have never experienced software of such bad quality. Installed on my computer--took a long time which made me nervous since the CD-ROM disc thrashes a lot--like it's trying to locate something on the disc but couldn't.
Finally it's done. Reboot. Try to start the program--it's crashes--before even a window is launched. Tried a more times and it's the same thing.
OK, time to un-install since it kept crashing. But lo and behold, the uninstall process crashes too.
Time to give up and write this review.

I am so glad to see so many negative reviews of this product. I thought it was me. I spent money on this product so I could create a great memorial slideshow of my father because it said it was easy to use. I work with other programs using photos and video and I didn't think it would be too difficult. After spending about a week trying to create a simple memorial slideshow, it still isn't working. I have had to do everything two or three times because it seems to randomly change items I thought were saved. I am now looking for a new program, after having spent $50 on this one. If it wasn't so important to me, I would have given up on it some time ago. It is the worst - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

I nave been a faithful Roxio customer since Roxio 5. I just purchased Roxio Creator 2009 in July of 2009 so I could have the latest and greatest. I tried and tried to install it on my Vista Ultimate desktop and encountered nothing but problems. Roxio customer support put me through the ringer giving me worthless instructions on what to do to successfully install the program. Nothing worked and I spent hours and hours of frustration trying to get the program to work. In October 2009 I did an upgrade to Windows 7 to get rid of the hated Vista Ultimate, thinking finally, I'll have some success with Creator 2009. Microsoft comptability said Creator was compatabil with Window 7....not so, at least that's what Roxio said. They offered me a $40 "upgrade" to Creator 2010. Since I have had so many problems with Creator 2009, I finally just decided to cut my losses and told Roxio to remove me from their customer data base and to cease any further attempts to get me to buy any future Roxio products. Be smart and stay away from any Roxio software. The stuff just flat doesn't work! ( If anyone wants my copy of Creator 2009, CHEAP, let me know. I'll be happy to sell it for what it's worth...nothing but the cost of postage to mail it to you).

I've been a loyal Roxio fan for years now. Easy Media Creator v 10 is my 3rd upgrade. Unfortunately, they no longer support the product. Needless to say, they won't support this version 9 product either. I have been wasting time trying to solve a problem with the VideoWave portion of the software using photos & movies. No matter what I've tried, the movie comes out looking like someone tossed a stack of photos on the screen - - there are multiple edges of prior scenes showing throughout the movie making for a distracting mess.

After wasting hours working with this version I'm ready to move on to a non-Roxio product.
