Useful product no focus lock.2010-03-19
I like this product. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for one thing--the diopter adjustment. It's a great idea, but I wish there would be a lock so that I wouldn't have to refocus every time.

My solution, in case you have the same problem, just tape the focus ring with electrical tape.
Does the job2010-03-13
The Hoodman works great and does exactly what it is meant to do...it also makes some pretty cool pictures if you put it backward in front of the lens. The only downside is like all the other reviews...the price is a bit high for something so simple.
Why am giving it 3 stars2010-02-01
I bought this and I'm still using it for the Canon 7D camera. I gave it 3 stars for the following reasons...

GOOD:
* Let's you view your focus on LiveView in the bright sun.

BAD:
* There's no magnification so there's really no reason to charge $80 on this except to bump up the margins. The cost to manufacture this runs around $8-$10. Yes, you will feel ripped off as you buy this. It's like forgetting your toothbrush, being charged $80 for it, but you have no choice as there are no other solutions that's cheaper. And yes, no one is forcing you to buy it -- but now you know what kind of build quality this is.

* The camera straps that runs $20 are useless rubber bands. Do not buy.

* Aside from the useless rubber bands (which I gave a separate review for), there's no way to hold the hood up except maybe perhaps glue it or you can build a 'trap' using the tripod hole which I've seen some people do.
Look at your LCD in the bright sun2010-01-24
This thing actually helps you see your LCD in sunny or bright conditions. It is a very firm plastic and does not fold up so you can't jam it into your pocket. It also, is not a magnifier so you have to use your cameras magnification options. The bag they give you with this is way to tight a fit and is useless. Its also way too expensive.
Great idea, not executed with functionality2010-01-19
When I first saw this item I thought it would be a necessity for any videographer who uses a DSLR to shoot video. While it does perform the task of being loupe for your DSLR, it's lacking in design and execution. If you were to try to run and gun with this setup with the added straps you would have a difficult time keeping the loupe centered over the LCD. The straps are very flimsy and can hold the loupe securely to the LCD screen. I will only use this if I don't have to worry about getting a certain shot once.

Another problem is this is the only loupe in this price range which might explain it's quality. The next step up is the Zacuto attachment and it cost $300, that just seems high.

Audio & Video Connections Guide
" For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three." - Alice Kahn This quote is certainly applicable to consumer electronics. From the very first commercially produced radios to the latest in high-definition television technology, the manner in which the components used to deliver our news, music, movies and entertainment are interconnected seems to have escaped logic. For both the newcomer and the old hand alike, connecting equipment in the most efficient and effective manner can be a painful chore. It is hoped this article will improve your background knowledge concerning potential A/V system connection schemes and where each is most appropriate. The next time you find yourself in a "connectivity quandary" perhaps the ideas shared here will help you to quickly solve the riddle of which wire goes where and why! Driving with a cell phone is a lot less dangerous than driving on prescription drugs
There's a lot of debate today about the safety of using cell phones while driving. Statistics show that those who use cell phones while driving cause a much greater percentage of accidents than those who avoid using their cell phones. And the studies have shown that it's not just the physical coordination required to punch numbers into the cell phone while you're trying to work the vehicle that causes accidents; it's actually the lack of attention resulting from driving and talking on the cell phone at the same time. It seems that when you're distracted, you're more likely to cause accidents. In terms of public safety, it's probably correct to say that banning cell phones would reduce the number of traffic accidents. But I think, more accurately, it depends on the person. Some people are operating on, shall we say, lower power CPUs in their heads to begin with. They might be zoned out on prescription drugs, and when you add a cell phone to the equation, they do become a danger to the ...
