Try, just try to find how much ink this really has, and compare?2010-02-25
I should be able to read a box cover and know how much ink it has in a standard liquid measurement. It says, in very small print with two, count 'em two, asterisks that it has enough for about "1,200 pages". Must be a page with a teeny, tiny picture in the corner. For the regular sized print pack, HP claims about "560" with only one astrisk that says "Actual yield varies considerably based on content of printed pages and other factors." One can just feel the bullpucky ooze around one's feet. Ahh, the smell, the smell of promises which cannot be measured yes, the malodor of flim flam.

HP used to be an up and up company, now their quality has taken a nose dive and they are resorting to this drivel. I think I will let this one run out, refill as long as possible and then chuck it for a printer where I am not throwing away 2/3? 1/2 of the ink when one color runs out. (What a deal, HP!) But then my printer is old, pre Carly and works slow but well. 57.00 bucks at Costco! Ounce for ounce this must be one of the most expensive liquids any of us buys. 100 year old champaign has nothing on this chemical ooze.

I feel an email to my Congresswoman coming on asking for truth in packaging. And the packaging! Twice the room with only one item! Bad show HP.
How about some 'green" thinking here?2010-02-23
We've used an HP OfficeJet G85 for almost 9 years now.
It cost around $400 new.
It has held up well, although sometimes it gets paper jams or grabs more than one sheet of paper.

But this review/rant is about the HP c6578a tri-color ink cartridge.
The price of replacement cartridges has gone up 50% in the past couple of years.
I guess HP is/has End-Of-Life'd the cartridge, which is sad because
once these cartridges are no longer available, and I seem to get less
than 5 refills per cartridge before one fails, we will be forced to
buy another printer/scanner/fax with document feeder and this behemoth
will become landfill fodder.
And HP, what's the big idea of half filling some cartridges...
so you can sell a full one as "XL" at an inflated price?
Because of these shenanigans,
an HP printer will not be an "automatic choice" when we replace the faithful G85.

Ordered the color cartridge and the double pack of black cartidges (see my review on the black cartidges). As with my review on the black cartridges, I saved money ordering from Amazon instead of purchasing this item locally. I've tried refills and have had nothing but trouble with them both black and color. Thanks to Amazon, I got what I needed, orginal HP cartidges that work and at a great price.

I believe this is the way to go when ordering a color cartridge as you get more ink for a better price than ordering two of the regular size. It ends up saving you money in the long run.
HP No. 78XL Inkjet Cartridge2009-06-01
When I researched this item, the website said it was compatable with HP no. 17 Injet Cartridge. When I received it and installed it in the printer the printer indicated it was out of ink and would not print anything. Don't know if it is the cartidge or if it is out of ink right out of the box. So I am out the price of the cartridge. So much for buying online.
