Minolta DiMAGE Scan Dual III High Speed

I purchased this product new and scanned thousands of slides, hundreds of negatives--it was an awesome unit in its day--have my Scan Dual III in storage now but have no doubts it'd work if needed.

People that base reviews on used goods really have no clue how great this product was. And at $300 it blew the socks off film/negative scanners built into flatbed units.

Came DOA from "marketplace" seller. Had trouble returning it.

Get a PLUSTEK instead - I did, for half the money, and it works great! I've scanned 1000 slides so far with excellent results.

Arrived DOA. Returned. Avoid.

Gets zero star rating from me.

Bought as a presant. On a Pentium 4 it is still a little slow, but the pictures are great coming from slides.

I was able to download the software into my pc laptop and got that working. There was a problem with the laptop recognizing the scanner, however. It turns out (after a lot of hair-pulling on my part and a call to Sony - who has taken over Minolta) that I can't have anything other than the scanner plugged into the USB ports or the scanner won't work. Once I determined that, it worked great with Photoshop Elements. It scans in 5 slides at a time fairly quickly.
