Won't hold air
2008-12-04After about three months it lost it's air. It will not hold the air after pumping. Not worth $100.

Use it Everywhere, for Everything, to Get More Results Per Workout
2008-11-25Balance Disc and Bosu Balls are both essential tools for increasing proprioception, stability, and strength.
You can do push-ups, squats, lunges, and other bodyweight exercises on these equipments to increase the intensity and versatility of each workout. Try doing the exercises with just one hand or one leg for an even greater challenge.
I sit on my balance disc wherever I go: work, classes, meetings, movies, dates. These tools force you to have a great posture to stay balanced on them. You can slowly raise each leg up to get a nice core workout while you sit.
The balance disc is great since it is convenient to carry and inexpensive. The bosu ball is a worthy investment as well, but you should master the balance disc first.
If you don't feel the burn after 10 repetitions, you are doing the exercise wrong. In all exercises, it is the eccentric portion of the exercise that builds muscle. Do the exercise in a smooth, controlled fashion with a 3 concentric and 6 eccentric count. Squeeze at the peak of the motion to get that extra pump.
As in all exercises, make sure to keep your wrists straight and check your posture with these seven vital points: feet hips-width apart and pointed straight ahead; knees slightly bent; pelvis at perfect middle, as if you are sitting at a bar stool; stomach tight, but not flexed; chest straight and aligned on top of ribs; shoulders parallel to ribs; and neck straight on top of body.

Gym quality for versatile workouts
2008-11-24I decided to buy the Bosu Balance Trainer after trying it in a gym. What I loved about it was that the same strength training exercises that could be done on the floor could also be made more challenging by using the Bosu Trainer. Because you are trying to maintain stability when using the Bosu you get a challenging core workout while doing exercises. This means that you are able to do a wide range of exercises, from easy to more challenging, all on one device. To me this made this one product so much better than the many exercise products that accommodate only a limited range of motion. Even without using the DVD there are an almost limitless array of exercises you can do on this device.
When I went to buy one for my home initially shocked at the price, when I took it out of the box it seemed worth it. What impressed me was the fact that it seemed extremely durable. I have owned it for six months and so far have been very impressed. I have been using it frequently to challenge myself when doing strength training exercises like bicep curls, lunges, etc., without having to go up in weight. Thankfully, I haven't had any of the issues that others have talked about. Because I have a small condo, I also appreciate that it does not take up much space. Overall I have been very impressed with this workout device and hope it will maintain its durability for years to come.

Definitely: Buyer Beware!!!!
2008-11-19I just purchased the Bosu home version and carefully followed instructions and started the workout. After about an hour, the inflated half ball came out of the plastic rim, and as another reviewer stated there is no way this is going to go back in securely - even if the ball was deflated and the rim was taken apart. There is a horrible smelly chemical residue on the rim and it seems that it wasn't glued correctly or perhaps the inflatable plastic part isn't made correctly. It looks uneven and lopsided around the edges which explains why it popped from the rim. What an expensive disappointment!!!! That said, the workout was really enjoyable and I could definitely see how it would be fun + beneficial. The quality of the product, however, is horrendous.

Helpful, but.....
2008-11-06I bought one on the recommendation of a personal trainer I know. The BOSU is helpful for balance training in conjunction with strength and flexibility training. Unfortunately, my BOSU developed a leak at the site where the pump is attached to inflate the BOSU. This occured just after a year of careful use (no direct sunlight, no tossing or dropping the BOSU, etc). As it stands, I either must inflate the BOSU each time I wish to use it, or buy a new one.
The pump is lightweight, flimsy, inexpensive plastic, and you may wish to find a better pump that is more efficient to use.
I think that the BOSU is very useful in physical fitness but it really should last longer than its one-year warranty.
