Great finisher
2008-11-24I have been using various Bare Escentuals products for a couple of years now. Currently I only use the Mineral Veil and Blushes. I previously used the powder foundation, but find that my skin is currently too dry. Whenever I try using the foundation as well I find myself looking too powdery, even though I have followed the instructional video's steps to apply correctly. However, even without using the full suite of makeup, I still really enjoy this Mineral Veil. It is extremely light and gives my face a nice matte finish without looking overly powdered or cakey. I also find that the color blends beautifully with my fair skin.
My only complaint with this product is about the packaging, not the powder itself. Like many other loose powders I wish it had a way to "lock" the container so that the powder would not spill through the holes when you do not want it to. Because of this I find it imperfect for my frequent business travel. When it is traveling in my bag I often find that powder ends up on top of the inner layer resulting in me often getting more powder on my brush than I would desire. This often results in either a less natural look or wasted powder. Overall though this is quite a minor nit as it is a problem that has happened with all the loose powders I have purchased, not just the Bare Escentuals brand.
Overall I highly recommend this product though, even if you plan to use it with another brand of foundation.

Feather Light mineral veil is AWESOME
2008-11-06I was looking for a dewy non-matte look. I tried using MACs strobe cream on top of my foundation but that did not really seem to work well. I also tried mixing BE's Flawless Radience with my BE foundation which was ok. I did not want to use flawless radience by itself because it seemed too shiny. BUT the feather light mineral veil is exactly what I was looking for. It has a little bit of sparkle to it which reflects the light and illuminates my face but does not make me look shiny or glittery. It still does the same things that regular mineral veil does by absorbing oil and smoothing and finishing foundation.

Acne prone skin, and still rooting for this!
2008-10-30Ok, so I see lots of negative reviews on this product for acne prone skin... I can honestly say that I have very acne prong skin, since I was very young, its mostly in the sides of my face, but still very annoying. I started using proactive and the bare minerals a few years ago. Together they have kept most of my acne under control. Maybe the negative reviewers are going based on what they've read versus how they've experienced it, because I find that with this type of product you need so little of it, that even if it contained ingredients that may cause clogging, you would not need much of it.
Additionally I find that where as the foundations become creamy as you put it on your face, the mineral veil stays more powdery then creamy, so you literally do get a feather dusting on your face which gives you that airbrushed appearence. I don't know much about ingredients, but having used these products for several years, and still using them on and off, I can honestly say they've worked great for my combination skin. The only way to know whether they work for you is if you try it.

ick!
2008-10-18I used to really love Bare Minerals..... until I found out about the ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride. At first my face LOVED this stuff. But after a few months of using it I noticed that when I wore it my face would be itchier then usual. I also started breaking out a LOT more then usual. It wasn't until I did some investigative work that I found out about that Bismuth ingredient and how heavy it is on your face. The whole reason you have to BUFF the makeup on is because the Bismuth Oxychloride is so heavy that it needs to be PUSHED into your skin. I noticed that my makeup felt and eventually looked like it slid off my face BECAUSE of how heavy it really is (you wouldn't think it was a heavy makeup being that it's mineral powder!)
I stopped using this stuff and IMMEDIATELY saw a difference in my face. It went from being ruddy looking to clean and clear and glowing. I switched my makeup to Alima Mineral makeup and WHAT a difference! For one thing you don't have to BUFF the stuff onto your face, and I feel you get SO much more powder for the price (Which is about the same as Bare Minerals!) The whole reason it feels like you get so much more is because you use a lot LESS! I LOVE Alima Mineral Makeup!
