A Little Dissappointed...Disposable Headphones!
2008-12-02I was very exited to get this headset brand new on EBay for just $40. It is the only bluetooth stereo headset that I could find that was moisture resistant and would not impede my workouts with over-the-ear earphones. I was immediately dissapointed to find that my older Blackberry 8100 pearl did not support stereo bluetooth, but after a couple of weeks I finally found out that by downloading the newest OS to the device made it work properly. It connected well and was ready to use.
This device has a lot going for it- sound quality is quite good. I am a very persnickety audiophile, and the lows were ample enough for most tastes, the highs fairly crisp and the volume was enough. Nothing amazing, but good enough to listen to for long sessions and not get tired.
The controls work pretty well- it is so nice and convenient to go forward and back or pause a song from the headset itself. the volume up and down buttons as well as the forward/back buttons do not have a very positive "feel" to them, but the headphones respond with a "beep" tone when they are pressed.
They are reasonably comfortable, but I can see the dilemma other users have had- this is just not made for larger heads.
The battery life is very impressive. I can go to the gym and use these headphones for 6 hours or more at full volume before they poop out. Not a bad deal for $40, but I couldn't see spending the $130 or so that Motorola was asking when they first arrived.
Now for the bad. Do not buy these headphones if you want to use them to talk on the phone!!! I do not know how some reviewers were able to take calls on this headset while being mindful of other people. You really have to speak up for anybody to hear you.
After a couple of weeks, the headphones would suddenly skip forward from track to track, and I would have to turn them off and back on to remedy it. No doubt due to the moisture, so I started wiping them off intermittently to prevent the glitch. This seemed to work for a while.
After a couple of months, the volume turned itself all the way down on me and would not turn back up. Nothing has worked to bring them back to life, and the low volume has rendered them useless.
I will buy another pair but will not spend more than the $40. $30 is more what they are worth, but until somebody comes out with a higher quality stero bluetooth in ear headset that it truly resistant to sweat, I'm stuck. Consider these headphones disposable, and try to make them last as long as possible. With my next pair, I am going to try to run a small bead of clear silicone around the controls to see if that helps.

awful
2008-11-30No wonder Motorola is tanking. These phones are hard and hurt the ears and do not work with most bluetooth sets, even those made by Motorola!!!

Awesome
2008-11-25This headset is awesome, one of the best I have had it works just fine and the sound quality is great.I recommend it anyone is interested. The ear pieces are a little awkward but it's still a nice headset

Motorola S9
2008-11-19I've owned this product for about one month and work out heavily with them. The product is great, good sound easy to use, however, don't sweat. After one particularly hard workout and yes lots of sweat.. the head phones stopped working. Very bad design flaw for someone who is active. I highly recommend them for someone who wants a low profile head set and will not be working out with them.

great, when it works....but I'm on my 3rd...
2008-11-16Pros: I gor this headset about 10 months ago and I loved it. It was great for working out, battery lasted for 4 or so days before I had to charge it and the sound quality was excellent.
Cons: It kept on breaking! Every 2-4 months it would stop working! Since it was warranted to a year, I kept bringing it back to the store and getting new one. Personally, I think that moisture was entering the electronics through the charging mechanism. Would definitaly not recommend it for working out.
