QuickBooks Pro 2008 [OLD VERSION]

I am not computer savvy, but my husband started his own business, and we were told that Quick Books was an excellent program. A friend of ours helped me set up the program, and it is great. Just follow the arrows on invoicing, to accepting payments, to making deposits. It is easy to understand and looks very professional in the printouts. There are still lots of things to learn, but I think I can do it. It has been a GREAT help for a a small business.

Just be aware that part of the installation REQUIRES you to phone Inituit (my wait time was 15 minutes). You must then spell out your address, give your phone number, email address.

Then for the next 10 minutes the other person will try to sell you other products (in order to receive the necessary validation code to run the software, they MUST go through their entire pitch).

Finally they will give you a validation code.

Next time I'll buy Peachtree instead.

A long time Quicken user, I purchased QuickBooks Pro 2008 from Amazon in January and tried to sync business accounts at US Bank. I continued to receive error messages. After hours on the phone with Intuit, they told me they were working on the issue and should have a fix in a few months. I waited. Meanwhile, my 30-day free tech help expired. A few months later, Intuit released a patch that was supposed to bridge the communication problem. It didn't work. When I called for support, they wanted to charge me $70/hr just to talk to me. I'd had the software for four months now, and I still couldn't use it - and they wanted to charge me more money. On the Intuit website, I saw that a fix would be available in July. So here it is in July, and Intuit still hasn't fixed the communication problem. I have ditched the QuickBooks and purchased a "Home Business" add-on for my Quicken ($39), and it works like a dream.
I'm fairly computer-savvy, but Quickbooks gave me such a headache that I would absolutely not recommend it for your business.

QuickBooks Pro 2008 is great software for both the educated accountant and the small business entreprenuer. I think one of the best ways to utilize QuickBooks is to get some training so that you can use the software to its fullest and best. I am VERY disappointed in this product. I cannot even get it to run correctly on a brand new Vista computer. I have installed and reinstalled it many times and gone to the Intuit website and tried just about everything listed in the tech support section. I thought I would just call and talk to tech support...nope you have to pay $49 for support for a brand new version of Quickbooks that you never even got to run! ...but they say you can send an email and someone will call you back within 30 mins. Did that several days ago and am still waiting for someone to call me back. When they do (if they do) it will probably be someone from India that I can't understand. The gall of them to put out such a bad product and then not give adequate tech support. I think Intuit is losing sight of who pays their bills. My advice....DON'T BUY QUICKBOOKS PRO 2008
