The Cool

Lupe Fiasco's (A.K.A. Wasalu Muhammad Jaco) sophomore album is "The Cool" (2007) a nineteen* track release from the Chicago MC. Production throughout this release is impressive. In fact it's the only highlight of the album for this reviewer, Soundtrakk leads the way producing more then half the album's track's, with other production contributions coming from Iesha Jaco, Chris & Drop, Alshux, Patrick Stump, Chris Goss, Unkle, Simonsayz & Le Messie. Lupe Fiasco is a rapper this reviewer very quickly gets tired of listening to, example "Go Go Gadget Flow" - feel like I am listening to a little child who flows with a very fast flow - while dropping meaningless lyrics - nothing cool about that. Tedious. Track's like "Superstar" feature outstanding production, Lupe does not do anything with it though. Recently heard All Star & Young Buck on the same beat, and it was good to see MC's put a beat to use. Do we really live in a culture now where Rappers have nothing better to talk about then Myspace pages? (Hip-Hop Saved My Life - excellent production). Lupe Fiasco does drop conscious rhymes from time to time, can't get past his repetitive monotonous annoying rhyme style though. I expect people to come hate on this review, definitely an acquired taste I am not interested in hearing.

I got the Cool for my son's b-day. He luvs it & plays it all the time. The CD came on time & in perfect condition. Lupe Fiasco is one of the few Hip Hop artists I like & don't mind my son listening 2. Good job LF...this mom likes ur work...

Songs are great, lyrics even better. A lot of these songs are on youtube if you want to listen to them before you buy the cd.

Lupe's second album was well thought out, somewhat predictable, but I predicted it would be good and that came true also. If you liked Food & Liquor, then you will like The Cool. It is currently in heavy rotation on all of my music players.

This music has managed to convert every single person i know into a lover of Lupe Fiasco's music. This album is a masterpiece. I have heard few albums that even begin to approach the genius that The Cool represents. Bring on the third album!
